You can easily find people that did the math for those cases. Basically we still need to do x10 or more in electricity storage (hard to do when you already built all the reversible damns you can build in your country) in most places by stil

Backing up solar production with batteries is pointless. Except for a really specific cases. The costs are too high, the stress on the grid is too high, the grid need to be overscaled, the batteries need to be changed each 15 years the sola

To stay under +2°C in 2100 we need to reduce our CO² emission to ~2T/year of CO² per human. We are at 15T/year in the US and ~10T/year at the OECD. We are currently aiming at +4°C or more. Doind a Paris-NewYork (one way) is 1

Regarding the drop of price of solar panel I don't think that it's not that uninteresting to invest in it. I'm all in to invest into renewable energy but I wanted to point out the hidden costs of deploying such technologies.

Investing in renewable energy doesn't mean that you'll drastically reduce your CO² emissions. You have to take into account the capacity factor of what you install https://jancovici.com/wp-content/uploads/

Neovim was launched in 2014, Movim in 2009 :) But yeah I got a few people that told me that that it was a vim fork or something related. Actually the name contains IM (we have the mov.im domains as well). Originally the name is an acronym (

Indeed, our image uploading system through XMPP used to use the 5280 port. This was changed recently to proxy things through the standard 443 port :) Unfortunately we cannot change the existing URLs that were spread across the whole network
