Most of this was actually shot on BU's campus. The scene where they're learning how to play was shot in the basement of Mugar (BU's main library). Apparently MIT doesn't look enough like MIT...

Well the problem with this puzzle wasn't its level of difficulty, just that it was awkward to complete. It seemed more like a test of my Firebug abilities than anything else.

You need seconds. Also make sure your system clock is accurate and that you're in Weebly's time zone.

I installed the beta this afternoon and so far it's told me exactly what I knew already: I spend too much time on this site. Noprocrast is handy, but simply being kicked off the web isn't enough. What I /really/ need is a program threatenin

Very timely post. I was in bed last night trying to visualize how you might go about measuring distance in 4-dimensional space... While the method presented is really simple, it's tricky to think of it as "intuitive" when n>3 without lo

Dfranke, adhering to the constraints given shouldn't the correct answer should be a very large negative value for n? There's no upside to increasing the value of n; you're only putting yourself further at risk.

Guys, no offense, but you're a few years late to the static homepage party. Here's a random idea: how about a service which turns any webpage into an rss feed? It'd basically provide a compiled feed of text delta's, which can be added to an

Hey guys, this looks great but how about a YC-only meetup? I wish there were some way to coordinate these things. I was planning a Friday meetup and wouldn't mind going through with it if I get a decent response. Waleedka, feel free to drop

Just a thought, but why not implement a clustering algorithm to disambiguate products in the search results? Suffix tree clustering should get you pretty close... Are there any product search engines which do this yet? I know froogle doesn'

Well, Flex is not exactly Flash. If you're looking to do true flash development using open source tools, check out the MTASC compiler. And for a specialized (free) ActionScript IDE I suggest SE|PY. It's integrated with MTASC, has better syn

Great! Just FYI, you have to put the email address in the "about" text area. I guess the email field is only used internally by YC. While I've got you here, I'll just my initial reactions: - 100KB photo limit is waaay too small. Restrict im

Hey MC, the service sounds pretty cool! I'm in the process of learning as much as possible about recognition techniques. According to the FAQ, you're not performing face detection (you ask users to crop their photos). Did you find that the

As it affects the short term, that's a good point. I'd make the argument that CPI is a better long-term indicator but over enough time the two indexes should show the same average rate of growth. Timr: just out of curiosity, what start-up

Along the same lines, "Don't make me think" by Steve Krug provides an awesome Usability foundation. (Better than Nielson, IMO.) http://www.amazon.com/Dont-Make-Me-Think-Usability/dp/078972...

Clearly those numbers are wrong -- otherwise a $5 loaf of bread today would've cost us about $.95 in 2002 (and about $.18 in 1997). I believe the historic average rate of inflation in the US is closer to 2.5%.

If anyone is considering building apps in this area, I'd strongly suggest checking out OpenCV. It's _far_ more powerful than Pixcavator, well supported, liberally licensed, and provides some really awesome high-level API's.

I think Mike's absolutely right. There's nothing inherently better about Mozilla's efforts simply because they're non-profit. You gotta hand it to Mike Chambers though; if there's one thing he's good at, it's spending all day on the interne

Sounds like you should consider selective style sheets for mobile devices. That way you can accommodate small displays and not at the expense of regular users. While the white background helps, I tried to pay a bit of attention to type size
