A bunch of people seem to be thinking along these lines. CIT in Cambridge is one example. In the Bay Area you have CitizenSpace and HatFactory (both coworking spaces, but I've heard that CitizenSpace is the better of the two).

Wow, I'm surprised to see someone dug this up. A lot has chanced since I hacked this script together and I'd expect that most features are now broken -- take that as a warning!

Oh come on. The adult group is the biggest is because you're required by Scribd to add your adult content to it. You're still free to add it to any additional group too, but this is essentially Scribd's way of tagging the content.

There are actually quite a few CSS frameworks out there, just none which provide the tools the author asks for. As someone mentioned in the comments, YUI Grids provides much of the desired functionality. Another which comes to mind is Bluep

The sad truth is that there's really no elegant solution to this problem. To make matters worse, the author's proposed solutions are only moving mark-up garbage from one place to another; they don't do much to improve the quality of code.

Eek, I was thinking it'd be nice to arrange some sort of YC night out. That doesn't sound like it'd work for Monday night and tomorrow would definitely be too short of notice. Next weekend might be a better date for something along those li

I've been entertaining the idea of proposing an SF meet-up. I had a blast at the Boston events this summer and have been hoping for some similar gatherings here (now that I am in the SF area). I'd really like to organize a night where News.

The API is interesting (to me at least) because it allows you to write glue code between existing web API's. It would be really cool to chain (pipe) Utilities, too. Sounds pretty similar to Yahoo Pipes. On the other hand, this site actually

Alright, so the parent poster was not very constructive with his criticism but personally I have no idea what to do with this site. And don't take that to be a reflection of your own abilities as a developer, it just means it's time to push

Those are all great points so maybe I just misunderstood your service. Is this a general marketplace or does it only appeal to a niche market? Either way, the social component makes it sound like you'll need to get over the cold-start "hump

If you seriously want to launch this service you'll need to be ruthless about who you target. You're not going to get anywhere by playing nice and focusing on a handful of sites. Target everyone and anyone. Then go back and do it again. Mar

Ok, to counter my bummer parent post here are some things you COULD feasibly implement in javascript: - color tinting (overlay semi-transparent colored elements on an image) - image cut-and-paste (like cropping, place some bounded area of a

Hey Ivan, JS is a seriously crippled language when it comes to doing low-level processing. Like others have mentioned, cropping and resizing are trivial; however, to do anything even slightly sophisticated I'd suggest looking into flash. Fl

Just for fun i calculated the worst-case state space for a network assuming that the average node has 150 peers -- out to 6 hops you have roughly 10^13 unique paths. Not impossible to work with, but you'd have to get pretty clever to reduce

Wonder if you'd have enough user data exposed through the API to actually map out the relevant network... computationally it'd be fairly trivial to verify the user's guess, but you'd have a hell of a time actually calculating minimum distan
