Your faith in Google and Alibaba's judgment is weird to me. Google squandered a lot more than $500 million on terrible projects in the past (Glass and Plus for example.) I see no reason to think Alibaba is run by infallible geniuses ei

Optimizing by hand is rarely the fastest thing to do nowadays. I wonder how the original naive approach fairs with all optimizations turned on for gcc and with realistic input?

The original Wii had a healthy lifespan. It had quite a few good titles. I don't think it's fair to say Nintendo moves into the Wii U too quickly. The Wii came out ahead of the previous generation of consoles and the Wii U followe

Personally I believe most people are really terrible drivers. That being said, there were 210 million drivers in the US in 2009. There's probably a lot more today. That's just 0.01% of drivers. That fact makes me have to question

This article is a reasonable rebuttal to the usual chicken little statements by people pushing industrial farming of GMO crops as the only way to "feed the world", but there are a couple of things this response misses. 1. If we st

I realize it's the best option right now, but it's terrible. That's my point. The system is awful. Theoretically you can change jobs but only to another employer who is in a position to sponsor your H1B. Which really limits y

The H1-B visa program sucks. It indentures the immigrant to their employer. If their job sucks their options are really limited.
