And Thalidomide wasn't approved in the US whereas it was approved in Europe and Canada. So... your point is stupid.

No. Read the article -- in the example used, the alternative is weeks on a ventilator. Which we know works. Until these drugs are known to be efficacious with tolerable side effects, they are still a second best treatment.

Well, until it has been tested, it is neither tried nor proven. And here is but a single reason http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalidomide for such testing requirements. Edit: to be clear, I was attempting to respond to the parent's parent

Mike's an adobe employee. Obviously. Here's the problem for Adobe -- it's not just apple / apple employees / apple devs that despise flash. The performance sucks ass, no matter what deluded blog posts they publish. I know this because f

I have to say, I do love the fact that everyone here is whining about people making $355 a week. Before taxes. I'd love to see the people here attempt to live an adult life on (52*$355) $18,460 before taxes.

Um, google was already indexing all documents on scribd. And while it's possible this will result in better SEO, I think it's more likely that all the html necessary to build documents with layout will confuse google's crawler/parser rathe

Holy shit that's awesome. I've longed for the day that latex2html dies a well deserved death and there aren't ugly little rasterized images where every mathematical symbol goes.

Looks gorgeous. I'd make the tool tray fall down a bit faster, but it's awesome. And I love the subtle blue lights across the bottom.

This is a pet peeve of mine. I don't blanket email my resume places. If I send it to your company, I've done at least a couple hours of research on your company (home page, crunchbase, glassdoor, first page of G results, etc) and written a

Well, two of many reasons are adobe is run by morons incapable of making a secure or performant product. Unless you missed the wave of acrobat exploits? 'Cause my gf's laptop sure didn't :( Removing yet another plugin from your browser sh

Something similar happened to me, but it didn't have a happy ending. My last year in college I had to stay for fall semester because of scheduling issues with a required class, so I needed a job for a summer. A local firm -- and let's name

So, I find this article very strange. The author seems quite intelligent, yet he has avoided learning much of anything about macroeconomic history. Is he really so naive to think that economists haven't noticed and thought about this phen

The US does have a higher per-capita gdp (probably; the numbers are subject to a lot of interpretation) but that is in no small part due to the fact that the rest of the industrialized word was mostly leveled in WWII. As of recently, I bel
