I get a feeling that it is just a band aid because of unsanitized data and sloppy coding practices. If you subscribe to the philosophy of sanitizing and validating user data on the edge as soon as you receive it and then stick to using what

First of all, other systems in other societies point to that it is not the only possibility. Second, the laws and regulations transform how society views criminals. I think in more modern crime systems (I come from Sweden) criminals are oft

I think they complain about the fact that the file dialog is collapsed by default, going to some length to hide the browse functionality (Apple probably wants you to save everything in Documents and be done with it). The save dialog can be

One could imagine other payloads like chaff, smoke, or even paint or flash bangs to disable equipment and injure the crew perhaps. Not sure how efficient that would be though.

If you’re on macOS there’s Vimac which gives you this for the whole OS including Safari and the contents of web pages (since it supports macOS accessibility features). https://vimacapp.com/

Depends. Sometimes you realize that you’ve always been the one initializing the interactions and when you stop nothing happens anymore. That might be a sign it’s a lopsided relationship.

Security and open source philosophy are two completely orthogonal problems. You can a have an open source system that is the most secure, sandboxed implementation there is. Likewise you can have a completely insecure closed source proprieta

You can actually hotlink directly to the Settings page for your app (e.g. Slack does this in their settings).

Completely agree. If you change the category it doesn’t even scroll to the new icons, it just instantly replaces the existing ones making it appear as if those are the only ones existing. It’s only if you actually drag your finger over the

Unless I’m missing something we’re talking about a tab bar? The worst thing that can happen is that you switch to that tab. Switching tabs should never be destructive.

Perhaps, but size of photos should affect load times when starting the app (and in my opinion, so shouldn’t most feature either, but that depends on your architecture I suppose).

Last time I signed up they showed the pricing per month but billed for the whole year and there was no way to cancel early. Had to contact support to get my money back once I realized this.

Probably larger if you compare to full ASCII frames, but you could probably apply the same compression techniques used on video frames to the ASCII format as well. It’s just a grid of “pixels” after all.

Seems to me that there are no “move” operations in S3, only copy and delete (which mean exactly what they say). So copy still means copy, and if you implement your own “move” you have to make sure it does what you want.

How do you actually test screen and mouse delay? Is there some good software for testing each in isolation? I know of Is It Snappy? for iOS bu that only measures end-to-end latency.

I use NextDNS [1] and I’m very happy with it so far. It works on the DNS level. So far for our entire home we’ve never gone above the free level once, but I’m happy to pay as soon as we do. [1]: https://nextdns.io/

I would recommend you learn the dbg module that comes with Erlang. Its a great tracing debugger able to trace existing code in runtime without having to modify the source. There are also several wrappers on top of the Erlang tracing tools,
