Tangentially related: I frequently start long-running shell commands and go make a coffee. Is there an easy way to send a notification from my Mac to my iPhone? You would think it would be a use case for Automator or Shortcuts but I don’t t

Couldn't something like this be based on e.g. Sublime's syntax definitions? Then it would work on all languages/formats that had such a definition.

So it will be self-reinforced to get worse and rot over time? Since surely all code that used Copilot will be slightly worse than code without (extrapolated on the assumption that Copilot is wrong some of the time).

Brains are incredibly adaptive. There are tons of experiences where people have had diminished or lost access to one of the senses and recovered surprisingly well. I had a colleague once who had a stroke and described his vision afterwards

You have to solve these things with a job queue system written in any other language or using any other databases as backends too though.

With the code it should be easier to fake a client, download and decode that configuration. Hopefully some further experiments can be done with access to the real source.

Usually most companies are okay if you have titles or names like “X for Netflix”. Some even explicitly state that they prefer that. It’s also a rule on the Apple App Stores that you can’t have a name like “Netflix X” to avoid confusion.

The perfect setup would be an M1 iPad that runs something iOS-like when it is in tablet mode and then switches to macOS when in laptop mode, keeping the apps running. At least, one can dream…

For a good (for some definitions of good) extra paycheck, I guess many would do more work. Want to buy a cool car? Do some cleaning on the side.

Can they guarantee no JIT code via static analysis as well? Or could someone sneak in a tiny bit of disguised JIT code just to get to this register? I would assume a huge JITed VM implementation would show up easily in analysis.

Sublime can definitely be that kind of editor, but requires quite a lot of setup in some cases. There is a language server plug-in, which (IMO) is not straight forward to customize or even setup, with very little feedback when something goe

NeoVintageous is the most complete, up-to-date Sublime Vim plug-in. It is a fork (I think?) of Vintagous, whose author went on to make Six, both of which now seem abandoned. NeoVintageous comes with many more features out of the box (Vim pl

If I search for “buy new running shoes” I’d rather get the best search results, not the highest paid for. I’m pretty sure there are better criteria for those results than the amount of money paid to end up in that list. But alas, that’s not

I tried to use DO Spaces (their S3 equivalent) to store 13 Kb of Pulumi state data, it took 5 minutes to save. Switched to AWS S3, it took less than a second. It seems to be seriously rate limited to the point of being unusable.

Since it is a desktop computer it makes total sense to move Ethernet to the power brick. That way, you can have a single cable up from under your desk to the computer. I'm collecting all my cables in a rack under the desk anyway, and t

The funniest thing with this tax letter is that on the envelope it says “Karriere mit Zukunft” meaning “careers with a future” like they completely seriously expect your newborn baby to start working for them 18+ years down the line.
