I think that both languages for the large and for the small have their own places. Something optimized for the large-scale doesn't automatically work well for the small. For example, I always feel that Tcl is better than Python for GDB

I think this has something to do with the so-called Parkinson's law, where an organization tends to "corrupt" when it is growing its headcount if its top leader is not aware of it. I used to work for a startup which has a &#x

China's economic success began with the transition to market economy, not the other way around. Edit: Also, China is a very capitalist country compared with, say, EU.

I think people have to understand the origin of the dollar reserves before imagining the implication. In the cases of Chinese and Japan (and most other export-oriented economies), the accumulations of dollar reserves are the by-product of t

This looks very cool. It would be interesting if we can construct software with a UI like this but based on an SSA IR or downright CPU instructions instead of another high-level language.

Interestingly it makes me a better programmer after being used to the Go style. Now I don't allow unused headers/variables in my C/C++ code and feel natural to check every return error. 'Optional' warnings don'

I've once heard that companies don't like GPL is not because they're afraid of being taken advantage of by their competitors, but they have some secret workarounds/fixes for the hardware defects, which would make them tr

My guess is it can be managed by something similar to the concept of critical sections. That is, GC is disabled in the critical sections and is only enabled explicitly by the programmer. That's like how the pauses caused by hardware in

They sought to promote themselves to the managerial/business roles that no longer required to write much code. That makes them less involved with the development, not the other way around. I don't think the reason for them to star

But given the reality I observe, Go has already the top-tier tooling regarding IDE support and we are still waiting for the first production-ready RLS. Not that Go has the fanciest IDE products in the market or those tools have been investe

If you replace the property tax with an LVT, the problem could be solved already. Lower property tax encourages developments and renewals. Higher land tax incentives efficient use of land and somehow makes yimby a more attractive option.
