It’s a good test for whether when the entrepreneur needs to close a big sale they can get connected to the purchasing decision maker.

If you only trust facts that you verify yourself firsthand, you can’t really live on the accumulated progress of human expertise. Your level of technological sophistication will max out at “can make a thatch hut and gather pineapples.”

You have clearly not worked in payments, just dealing with the fraud at that scale is more than 20 people.

This works great when you are developing the polio vaccine. But in the wrong hands this is just an illegitimate tool of power. Plenty of people joined companies like Facebook because they were made to believe that they were truly changing t

Yeah, sailboat products ain’t gonna happen at Target. Amazon is like a giant Goodwill: half the stuff is obvious crap, another 30% is non obvious crap, and 20% is quality products. If you want verified quality in specialty categories, you n

Of course. I’m talking about for household essentials. Amazon has built a gigantic marketplace by instituting zero quality control. Target is a marketplace with much stricter quality control and a vastly smaller selection. If you’re fine wi

The market opportunity is already occupied by Target! Great products, shipped to you or delivered to your car in the parking lot. I’ve shifted at least 50% of my Amazon spend to Target. I won’t buy anything that I eat, that touches my child

They don’t need to make the scooters profitable — they just need to make sure that the scooters don’t displace Uber and Lyft rides. They just need to make sure the scooters are crappy, broken, and annoying to get the world to turn against s

Why shouldn’t the principals of a company that willfully harms so many people’s lives receive a criminal punishment on par with what someone who murders a single person gets?

This is my favorite article on MLMs, how they basically consume and destroy female friendships for a quick buck. https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/01/21/how-mlms-a...

I think they’re roughly the same... if you spend four hours a day playing video games or watching TV most people will judge you negatively for it

We do it but our kids share rooms. The girls are in one room and the boy in the other. They will complain when they’re older but that’s life. Most people aren’t willing to have 5 people in 1050 square feet.

That kind of thinking isn’t how top brands are built. Lexus doesn’t lose any customers if the scan button on the LS400 radio is a little fiddly, but that kind of thinking will poison a brand.

That’s not the kind of thinking that really works for a brand with such massive consumer trust as Disney. You’re talking about a brand worth $100-200 billion, you don’t just “Take an L.”

But these guys knew the kind of volume they would have on Day 1, and have the resources to get it right, and the brand value to protect. It’s not like a startup that grows like crazy.
