Ban commercial ownership of residential properties. That's the headline, but more complex to implement than the headline. To be able to fund and build large residential apartment or condo complexes, you need cities to be able to charte

CA has had blackouts, not for lack of power, but recently, rather for liability reduction vs wildfires sparked by woefully behind the times maintenance of the grid.

How is immune protection measured? It would seem like you can't skip serology measurements - otherwise how would one know if the participants even had an immune response to the variants you were studying? But it does make sense to furt

Previous released papers have found that the earlier Omicron variants did not provide protection from middle variants. (Original omicron vs BA1/2). So some bA.2 to BA4/5 immunity protection would be a new behavior. https:/&#

Aren’t competitors in a small land network by definition wasted equipment Capex if they’re actually completing. And if they’re not actually competing it is a waste by balkanization.

For infrastructure, especially in smaller markets, it seems like a public monopoly would be the most cost efficient - even if you contracted out periodic private operational and upgrade contracts.

A lets say 1GW nuclear reactor is much more central vs 1000 1MW solar utility grade installs. If you say some portion of them are residential scale 24-40kW installs, then it would be incredibly difficult to remove electrical power from a na

It would be pretty ridiculous if the lesson of energy after the disruption of energy during the war in the Ukraine is to build more nuclear plants, creating more central points of high disruption in potential conflicts.

That doesn't make any sense because Russian companies are significant suppliers within the nuclear power production logistics footprint. edit: eg. https://www.wired.com/story/the-nuclear-reactors-of-the-futu...

Exactly. And it not just a generic hiring question. If you want engineers experienced in building leading edge compute systems - one may need to consider what it takes hiring those that have built them in highly compensated areas.

New reactor designs, even with closely regulated designs, are very unproven. The next gen French EDF design recently had some units come online, but they had to figure out some unexpected buildup in some byproducts. You are also validatin

I don't think financial interdependence is exclusively what prevents conflict. Shared values and cultural exchanges develop when you spend more time interacting, and financial connections are one excuse to spend more time interacting.

The difficult thing about even very good prevention is that the absence of events is difficult to prove. Is interconnection perfect? obviously not. Does interconnection prevent more conflicts vs fully independent nations? Likely yes. I thin

It’s odd to say never when you can see on the chart there was a twenty five year break in any new capacity. Their new reactor designs have been going over budget and having startup problems like many other modern nuclear builds.

Why? Multiple studies have concluded that renewables can power 100% of grids, and they seem to be scaling from a manufacturing and installation basis much faster than nuclear.
