> I don't need it to be #1. I don't either, but a chat app is useless if I can't use it to chat with people and almost nobody I know will consider Signal. It's either WhatsApp, Telegram, or SMS (horrible).

It works reasonably well for me for most normal, constant background noise. It's not perfect obviously.

It's not perfect, but it's the simplest option for me for normal background noise that works reasonably well as long as you don't change much. Definitely an option if you want to play games or work at the same time as talk.

Sometime last year I tried Session and while the idea sounds great it needs a lot more attention before I can use it in anger - but I'm a fan of the idea.

Or, you know, one can increase the voice activation level so that that's not the case?

Facebook logs all metadata that is available from WhatsApp as well. I'd rather have my metadata on matrix servers than on FB servers - at least it's not connected to my phone number, which is tied to my real identity. Also, matrix

Do you have an article or the code somewhere for all this? I'd like to try setting it up as well.

The opposite of using Amazon Smile is not using it. It costs you nothing and benefits charities.

Matrix does not offer the same UX at all. I say this as someone who uses both. Telegram is just better as a frontend in every way.

No, on the contrary: deaths through those drivers can be eliminated. It only makes sense to look at total number of deaths, including by alcohol, drugs, inexperienced drivers, elderly drivers, distracted drivers (smartphone, etc.).

But as soon as you actually need to implement an efficient library you must use C/C++/Fortran. Julia, for example, allows you to stay in Julia and get comparable performance.

First-class logic/constraint programming like in Flix ( https://flix.dev/ ). This would make complex logic easier and powerful.

That makes sense. What did you use Flux for? I'm getting into it for natural language processing, hopefully during a PhD sometime in 2021.

Common Lisp with SBCL compiles to very efficient code, it can be comparable to C, for example. For multicore support, I'm sure there are good libraries available - lparallel maybe? ( https://lparallel.org/overview/
