Outkast was a phenomenon while I was in college. "YKK on your zipper" was a lyric in "So Fresh, So Clean." That was the first time I'd heard of them and I recall looking at all my stuff to see what used YKK. I had

I just timed my 4th gen i7 laptop booting Manjaro, and from power button to login screen was 12 seconds. What hardware are you referring to?

While I'd have no need for anywhere near 100+ TB, I'll be really happy when SSDs are cheaper than spinning disks. If they can make a 200TB drive for business, a 20TB drive for home users should be pretty reasonable.

I mean, buying games at full retail price that you can only use on their service is not very appealing to me... I hope they'll give out Steam codes or something to folks that did.

How much do you have to move around to play Alyx? I have an old Oculus Rift gathering dust, but my gaming PC is in a super cramped room.

I got a bundle of a Fujifilm S9800 and S8200 for $100 on eBay. Nobody else bid. https://www.dpreview.com/products/fujifilm/compacts/fujifilm... It's great. It even takes AA batteries so no hassle with s

I picked up a couple used FujiFilm bridge cameras recently. I got them to teach my son photography but now I find myself packing the $50 Fuji over my DSLR. I'm getting some amazing shots. I'd go Mirrorless, but none of the lens

Guetzli is really hamstrung by its resource usage. When it first hit the news I tried it out, and compressing a full quality JPEG from my phone could take 20-30 minutes on an i7.

On the flip side, I've built several production apps with AASM or Workflow that made adapting to changing business logic a breeze. If you're given a flow-chart you can translate that 1-1 and when that chart changes it's easy

Oh wow, you're right. I bought two 12TB WD drives in March 2020 for $175 each. The same drive on Amazon is now $218. The pair of 8TB I had previously are within $5 of what I paid in 2017.

I 100% welcome higher gas prices. Americans are so wasteful it's ridiculous. It'll hurt if you're currently in an inefficient car but once you get a hybrid / EV you won't care. I don't even look at the price

Having been in a similar situation personally, I'd suggest not doing the most pragmatic thing possible which is what I chose. That money will mean nothing in 20 years, but what you choose to do now will. Plan an adventure, take a c
