A given generation of humans always think they know better than the previous ones. I'm pretty sure nobody in History thought they were the ones living in the Dark Ages of History. The Dark Ages were always before us.

I have to say the amount of spam emails I'm getting from recruiters has decreased a lot - also I took a new job a few months ago so maybe I'm just being filtered out for now.

I am legit at a loss of words. The part you quoted literally state that in a much shorter distance you can see more diverse landscapes. This is literally what these numbers and words mean. As for "The idea a vastly smaller area would

What does extreme wilderness and no phone service have to do with diversity of landscapes?

Nice strawman. I never said otherwise, but it's a fact that very few (if any?) countries pack so many diverse landscapes in an area as small as France.

You probably see more interesting and diverse landscapes in 3000 km of France vs 24000 km of Canada.

For another example of this lazy marketing strategy see the garbage live action remakes Disney has been putting out there over the past few years.

It was always funny to me how people seem to focus so much on the 24/7 surveillance in 1984 while I always found the rewriting of the past and the shrinking of language so much more terrifying. Admittedly, the constant surveillance is

Incorrect, I've experienced pay cut once in the US, it lasted a few months and once the company improved its cash flow we got back paid. I've also seen benefit cut like getting rid of 401k contributions

It's the same in the US. All hospitals have an obligation to provide care. Source: my wife is a nurse and it happens all the time.

A grand sounds a bit high. I have a family of 4 and can't remember ever paying more than 400 a month. Granted, my employer picks up part of the tab but that's just how it works in the US (and it's dumb).

Maybe there is some space between being shamed and being treated as a role model? No obese people are not bad people but I would like to be able to say that I don't approve of their lifestyle and don't want my kids to believe that

Do you have data for this "large number of cases"? Large how? Large compared to what? You're being surprisingly thick. My comment of course applied to things that were legal. If gambling is legal what's the moral high gr

Same reason as weed: if you legalize it you can tax it. Also, I really don't see the problem with gambling. It's a game. People can do what they want with their time and money.
