As a former automotive engineer, I can say I didn't use my math much either. In fact engineering in my experience was mostly project management, the degree just gave you the background to work with everyone else.

I am not sure how many of the upper management have MBA's, but they do hire an awful lot into middle management. It is regularly at the top of the list for places new MBA's would like to work at.

But there are significant tax savings when using a 401K or IRA, which combined with the long term makes it quite unlikely that savings will out perform.

I have the same problem with Americans thinking my accent is English, and vice versa. My accent was originally South African, but it has changed into some sort of weird hybrid.

Not to mention being influenced by French, Spanish, Portuguese, English, West African and native languages is hardly unique amongst the world's former colonies.

Well batteries are much much heavier and would likely be in the centre of the car for weight distribution, and you need to make the electrical connection. Changing a tyre during a race just takes a speed gun and one nut.

If you are eligible, you can look into working holiday visas (here is info on Australia's http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/462/ ). Rent a camper and follow the harvest. Just work a few weeks on a few weeks off.

As a young company you also don't have to supply health insurance to employees, which can make it easier to convince them to come work for you.

I like the idea of the startup visa, but as someone who has had an H1-B and dealt with US immigration, I have a feeling a startup visa will be anything but straightforward and easy to get.

Part of the cost is due to design engineering, not just manufacturing. Since they are just copying the design, they can save a quite a bit.

I have been involved in automotive recalls as a quality engineer and believe it or not things have advanced in the last 40 years and this is no longer how recalls are handled. In fact the cost of the recall is usually one of the last thing

I did a case study on this in a design class. The design talent at apple didn't change much, but the quality of finished designs coming out did. This had more to do with slashing all the changes between what a designer wants and what the

A limited slip differential solves most of this problem, and you don't have to worry about unlocking the diff when you are on dry road. (having a locked diff means the tyres will have to slip over the road when turning. On a dry road they

That's a good point, but cars are also much more reliable now so you don't have to know how to fix them. The same could be said for operating systems and computers in general.

This is a similar path to what has happened with cars. Most people used to know how to maintain their own car. Now you barely have to know how to pop the hood.
