Developers are obsessed with tools and, for major part, not in a healthy way, is my observation. Maybe they escape drudgery that is most of development that way. :)

Aside of asking for details of few high profile developers and sponsors, no. They have extremely widely distributed and viewed network of games, so I'm fairly confident in the accuracy of those trends reported. Another interesting point the

To offer a business perspective on this, as opposed to widely spread tech-centric comments... Flash market is still there, and it's growing. Hard-on-3D browser based games are extremely sparse with business opportunities, as are HTML5 (We

Edited, thank you. It was just a lapsus. Awkwardly placed one, though. :) Come to think of it, this kind of behaviour may even act as a solid social filter. After all, if you cannot comprehend that I'm actually being an active part of conve

Not be demeaning, but there is an alternative way out of that - become a power user. I frequently continue programming/typing, slip in an audio note to self or search the web via Google Now, while holding a normal conversation. And people w

My experience exactly. It needs to function order of magnitude faster, and guesswork it does is still pretty dodgy. Only one 'wow' was when it offered me currency exchange values when I was abroad. And then, Chrome stepped up with ads and

Most answers offer a triple-A game dev perspective, so here's some indie... Toolsets are much more obtainable on Windows. That includes cracked apps, educational licenses, and plenty more sources. They're also more expansive; almost anythin

To ones interested in how much AdBlock actually impacts ad performances, this is an interesting report. http://clarityray.com/Content/ClarityRay_AdBlockReport.pdf Almost a year old though. Anyone has newer data?

So, this is like Chladni patterns, but in 3D and high definition? Or just Chladni patterns with high framerate? I'm having a hard time interpreting this from very vague and pretty uninformative descriptions. Frank Zappa stated on multiple o

Actually, I see your point at my faulty analogy with programming - conceded - but it's just what illustrates even more so my argument - some people just don't have mental capacity to do complex programming, and no matter how many hours they

I applaud your persistence but I'd argue that you might be better off refining your work, than just making new sketch each time. But it's art - I can imagine you developing your own style this way, and I'd absolutely have no problem with it

As mainstream art and design in particular goes, I'd agree completely. Loads of feedback from beholders is what has made me much better designer, probably by orders of magnitutde, if such numerical property could be applied.

You cannot expect to have prescription on how to do art. It's about stepping back after you're done and saying "this sucks" and improving on that. Sure, there's methods and best practices, but they're not nearly as relevant as quality of yo

To be fair, comparison between Inkscape and Photoshop is not really an appropriate one, as one is a raster and other vector based tool. It's usually Gimp vs Photoshop and Inkscape vs Illustrator.

I grew up in similar conditions, and only now that you've mentioned it, I made a connection of awaking to not knowing where you are and confused to such sensory deprivation. I don't recall that happening ever in urban areas. Quite contrary,

I can quite relate to you, music is around me whole day, otherwise I fidget, hum, whistle, tap, sing... What I prefer over TV for killing the brain noise before sleep is, again, music. Music is the best.
