Not my screengrab. That is a post in frisson where someone is posting a pic that supposedly will generate frisson. There is clearly a campaign to post subreddit themed references to the topic. The vote counts seem aberrant to me as well.

I don’t believe that botnet activity has been limited to one side, based on how reddit has looked this last week. Example of suspicious postings: https://www.reddit.com/r/Frisson/comments/7engpr/image_red

I am a little unclear on why they operate the way they do, but the k33n team guys are all employed by Tencent. I’ve asked them about it and this was the rationale they presented. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tencent

The only winning strategy is skepticism of all claims. The idea that computers will help discern absolute truth in matters that mostly are based on opinions and prejudice is pitiable and arrogant.

I am not making the argument you are describing. With respect to messaging tone, there are feminists and social justice people who end up being so tone deaf that they alienate otherwise sympathetic people.

This section struck out to me too. what I realized is that I am older, more world wary and far more cynical about anyone looking out for me than your average young millennial. I think the dividing line is in that cynicism. I have never felt
