I used to recommend PayPal Website Payments Pro until they screwed me recently. I assumed the people that were abused by PayPal were few and far between until it also happened to me. Now I tell everyone to get a real merchant account. It

You sold because you were afraid of another "double dip" that didn't happen, and now you think you had "pretty good forward-sight"? "You should have held on to it" is not hindsight, that's typically stock market investment advice. Unless a

How long does it take to add a column to that table with 300MM rows? Does Clustrix require schema modifications?

Twitter is half of the problem here. Once you request read access and a user approves it, there is no way under the same application then go back and get write access. Ideally every app would start with read and then only upgrade to write

"I would consider that low value content" It's actually high value content (from a monetary perspective) otherwise Demand Media wouldn't be creating it. Low quality, high value. Spam is something else entirely.

How often have you searched Google and been sent to one of those pages? They don't want useless content in their serps. If someone goes directly to the domain, that's in no way related to search quality.

That would assume that people using Adwords compare costs with the other ad networks before deciding to advertise. I would guess this is most often not the case.

People tend to use examples that make their methods really shine. The example conversations in this post work out really well, but they're more like an IM conversation than most email treads I've had. Try a few examples where someone writ

I get to the airport 2 hours early, plus 30 minutes driving time to and from the airport. So that puts total flying time at 5.5 hours. Add in invasive airport security, baggage fees, entertainment fees, wifi fees, parking fees, etc. For

Linode has multiple "availability zones" aka datacenters so you can achieve the same redundancy with them. I would guess that linodes have better uptimes than aws but I don't have any numbers to actually back that up.

So you were 12 when Facebook was started and had Facebook your entire high school life? It seems a bit hard to be subjective then since you haven't known any different.

There are already anti-smoking laws in place that prohibit you from smoking in many (all?) public places (at least in SF). Worrying about your freedom to breath clean air isn't in any way related to prop-19, it's about smoking in general w

You might want to check out http://railskits.com/saas/ . Yes it actually costs money, but consider what your time is worth.

You wouldn't be happier if you got virtually the same experience for 40% to 50% less money each month? Having used both Slicehost and Linode, the (user) experience is similar, node performance is better, and the price is cheaper.

Authorize.net also has a vault product. Chargify still stores the CC at the gateway level, so you have gateway lockin I don't understand this. Gateways that provide a vault for storing credit card information give you a way to get it out
