What drives me nuts these days is how the skip-back in Netflix on TVs /firesticks/ etc will sometimes skip back 10 seconds, and sometimes bring up a scrub bar of images. Selecting one image to the left often re-starts playback at

The TL;DW is that a popular YT'er bought an open box mobo from NewEgg. He didn't need it, and returned it w/o opening the box. They refused to restock it, saying he damaged the CPU socket, and kept his money. After they s

There is an internal page called epitaphs which lists your title/level when you departed. So any current employee could check "for a friend". Or at least this was the case in 2015 when I left.

Wow, I would hate this. When I left Google, I had just been promoted to L6 (staff) SWE, and I delayed my departure by 2 weeks in order for my promo to take effect. I did this primarily so that I could list the new level on my resume and h

The interesting thing these days is the EV category. As charging infrastructure improves, it will be interesting to see how times approach those of traditional ICE cars. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/rented-tesla-

I might be your target audience. I am not invested in crypto, but I'm curious. The simulator has me confused.. Like why does it matter if I subscribe to netflix or spotify?

FWIW, Netflix basically has a slider, where you can take from 0% to 100% of your salary in options vs in cash. You get to decide once a year during a sort of "open enrollment" (like how you choose health care plans).

BTW, the FSD beta is terrible. Its what I imagine a senior citizen taking their first drive after getting a learners permit would be like. The worst part is horribly timid behavior pulling into traffic or making unprotected left turns. It

I say "locked in" mainly because the tesla network is the only reliable network in the USA. There are many horror stories about other vendors' fast chargers.

This seems like a net-negative for Tesla, in terms of customer retention. My inital reactions to this as a current Tesla owner: o I'm not looking forward to additional crowding at superchargers. o I'm EV enthusiast who road-trips

Well, yes and no. I don't see how CAT can differentiate between a packet header and packet data, but being able to control the number of ways dedicated to DDIO would be nice. In terms of features like CAT being available on different

For example, splice or tcp_mmap() can be used to "receive" data from networking stack into application managed place. splice and MSG_ZEROCOPY can be used to "transmit" data into networking stack. The problem with MSG_ZE

DDIO is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. DDIO applies to ANY I/O device, which makes it a horrible idea on servers with even a moderate amount of I/O. With DDIO, EVERY I/O device's DMA writes (eg, transfer from device

That's an interesting concept, but the towed generator model also allows you to go "off grid" to rural areas without fast charging. Such areas would be unlikely to be a common enough destination for a roadtrain..

I'll probably get down-voted, but I really think best way to improve BEV range for road trips is towing a diesel or gas powered electric generator. Your car becomes like a plugin hybrid, except you don't have to deal with the wei
