Twitter is censoring users at the behest of their governments. They don't have to. How long do you think it would continue to be illegal to mention Naziism in Germany if Twitter, Facebook, Google, et al, decided to boycott the entire countr

The wiggle room is that maybe, when Twitter, Google and Facebook, and every other company that values free speech (if in fact they actually do) pulls out of their country, the citizens will realize how shitty their laws against free speech

Ha ha, mine too. It says it's "adult content". There's a special place in hell for business owners who inflict Websense or any other method of censoring content on their own employees. If you don't trust me to use it, don't give me a comput

It's getting less different over time. Let's go back a few thousand years and ask Plato. Suppose he says "Literacy is not as basic of a skill as speaking and remembering. Proof is that it takes speaking and memory as foundational skills to

So you don't think kids should be taught to read if they don't have an interest in it? What about math? Computing is a basic skill on the same level as math and literacy. It's only getting more important. You don't have to be an aspiring au

Law enforcement steals personal property all the time, with no recourse for the owner. All they need is an excuse to link it with an investigation. Even if nobody is ever accused of a crime, and nothing goes before a judge. Then later they

When is Microsoft going to get the bright idea to incorporate everything anybody writes in Word or Visual Studio into their own IP portfolio? Or Adobe appropriates the copyright of any image edited with Photoshop? Here's to the crazy ones.

Off topic: The illustrator is apparently Andy Rementer, and while his name isn't familiar, the art very much is. Where else has this guy's work been featured?

I like Android, but the back button is totally useless to me. It only works in the simplest of cases, namely when opening an app and not navigating beyond that, I know I can press the back button to get to the home screen. Otherwise, my wor

Learn Python the Hard Way is available for free on the web, but you have to pay (a nominal fee) for the pdf or epub versions. So I'm not sure it counts as a "free ebook".

GNU already chose Scheme as the language of choice for Guile, which is (intended to be) to GNU as a whole what elisp is for Emacs. So I could see emacs eventually being ported to Scheme. But not CLisp.
