About once a year I go to AltaVista.com and Lycos.com to see if they still exist. I wonder sometimes if people go to work everyday at these companies, or if they're just a server somewhere now.

On one hand, he says he hates the phrase, but it doesn't look like he hates what it means - or maybe he doesn't understand what it means - I'm a little confused by the take-away from the article. That being said... Re-inventing the wheel sh

Actually, Reddit is the exact site I was thinking of when I made this post. They opened up the Reddit Gold, it helped a little, but lately the site seems to go down daily, or even more often. It's almost like it's getting worse.

I've written several top 10 games in the Android Market and have sold over $100K in product in just a matter of months. EDIT: Top 10 games in their respective categories, I have NOT broken into the top 10 for "All Games" in the Android Mark

It's because programming is as much an art as it is a science. You don't ask a painter how many hours it will take to complete a masterpiece. Nor do you ask a composer how long it will take to write the next great hit. Or an author how lo

It's all politics and people desperate to keep their cushy desk jobs. If you're already coding, I'd recommend getting out there now to find your hurdles, because there will be A LOT of them.

This feels a little like link bait to me, because it's silly just to drop arbitrary numbers on game development that determine its success. Nobody would disagree that a high quality game requires a big blockbuster-movie size budget. Nobody

I really like this post. A lot. The idea that just throwing money at something will in some way keep it alive is kind-of silly. The closest you'll come to this if you have ONLY a paid option, which would eliminate the free users, and make

That's not "free". "we’re always looking for new ways to support you" Really? REALLY? How about a web form where you select a department, send in a support question, get a ticket number and eventually a response? FTFY. I didn't even go to

As an indie game developer, I kind of agree with a lot of this article (except I do backup) When writing a game, I feel like I'm painting a picture, not writing a program. New funcionality is like a sweeping brush stroke. It doesn't have t

I think paypal can give you the best of both worlds. Login and use funds like I always do, or you can just enter a card and info like a typical credit card form.

430+ comments on a Sunday. One might say that for HN'ers, the quality of posts comes in at a close second to having this community of peers to converse with, argue with, share with and even make lame jokes with.

Craigslist is the most UNBROKEN site on the web. It works flawlessly. Just yesterday I bought a cell phone from a local guy on Craigslist. Scrolled down the page. Found the phone I wanted in the city I wanted for the price I wanted. Call

Sorry. I have a love hate relationship with the Internet on April Fools Day. I hate the annoyances, but I love the brilliant stuff that happens. I think Hulu.com is my favorite today.

This felt demeaning and mean to me. I was very uncomfortable watching it. It looks like one of the company's employees showed up... possibly one of the people you claim may already be getting mistreated? Now what happens to this person aft

Really? You think that's how it went down? Isn't it more likely that he handed out the hats as a nice gesture to the locals, and he had no idea those same people would soon attack the dead carcass and start handing out its flesh?

Thank you. Agreed. He fed a village (or more), saved the crop, and it looks like the people there find this to be a noble act. Our U.S. grocery stores have stock piles of meat stacked in open refrigerators, butchered behind closed doors.

Something like this is going to have an intense affect on app rankings in the Market as free apps won't lose their install rates as people decide to upgrade to the paid versions.

There is so much wrong with the statement at the top of your site. #1 LOTS of people have no idea what Airbnb is. This service by itself is very niche. #2 Can you even use the name of another company like this? Do they want you to associa

I have launched 11 games in all since I started. Only 2 have netted over $10k. I think 2 others could do as well if I just get back in there and do some nice updates.
