There are extensions to "Namecoin", a bitcoin alternate chain, that does things like this. For example: http://dot-bit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2273

I'm not aware of an actual decision being made with regard to desktop support yet but I think it is inevitable.

Initial support for libstagefright decoding (giving H.264, etc) on Android landed in "mozilla-inbound" today too. These should go in mozilla-central soon and be available in Firefox Mobile nightly builds. It's turned off by default (enabled

Gonk has the libstagefright libraries which expect to be able to dynamically load shared libraries provided by the carrier or phone maker which contain the decoders. They are expected to have all the relevant licenses. In the case of deskto

How about Pitcairn Island? You can't get much more remote. Two months fits in fairly well with the supply ship coming and going for transport to/from the island. 12 people would increase the local population by almost 25%!

Not all browsers do this. At least one compiles directly to native machine code. Chrome's V8 does this according to http://stackoverflow.com/a/8819921

Ogg is a container format. The Opus support in Firefox is Opus inside the Ogg container. You probably mean "why isn't Vorbis good enough". Even the article has this error when it says that Opus compression is better than Ogg. They mean Vorb

I've found the most supported device, and easiest to hack around with using b2g, is the Nexus S. I'd recommend going for that over the Nexus.

Inferno has even been ported to run on phones: http://www.android-dev.ro/2011/09/17/hellaphone-inferno-os-f... Similar to Mozilla's B2G in approach, it uses Android's basic Linux system and builds on that. Source here: https://bitbucket.

They could have looked at the ip's of bitcoin services and noted those running on a linode. Or collected ip's from bitcoin nodes that their own node has seen and looked up those allocated to linode.

The response from linode says that it was a "a customer support interface" that was used to access the account. This seems to indicate an error in their support system rather than someone guessing slush's password.

Mozilla supports the Audio Data API which predates Chromes entry into that space: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Audio_Data_API At some point this will be battled out in the W3C and a standard API will appear.

I've written public web applications in Ur/Web (a functional language for web development, http://www.impredicative.com/ur/ ) and the backend for one in ATS ( http://www.ats-lang.org ). I've found them both pretty productive.

Yes, it's possible to integrate ATS generated code into a C project. ATS provides control over the names of the generated functions so you can only convert the parts you want to be verified as safe by ATS if needed.

ATS has similar constructs. Once you have allocated memory you can't do pointer arithmetic outside the bounds of the size of the memory allocated, checked at compile time.

The addresses being used don't necessarily indicate the exchange owner was lying. An enterprising AWS engineer might have been able to recover the wallet somehow. At a value of $200,000+ USD it'd be worth looking for.

The individual trades in exchanges don't hit the wallet. Only deposits and withdrawal's do. The trades themselves are handled by the exchanges database. You can pre-generate addresses in a wallet and then do a backup. This backup is valid a

You pay for the registration and update of names with namecoins and the data is stored in the namecoin blockchain. In this way it is decentralized. Lookups are done directly from the blockchain.
