So just because it's useless now, that means it will never be useful? I guess we should give up on every new technology that's not immediately beneficial.

I had a similar thing happen to me. My parents split when I was at two. At five, my brother was sent to live with my father. A year later, I was sent to live there, too. I can still remember lying awake at my father's house, crying out

This appears to be basically the same argument I responded to originally, but rephrased in a different way -- that the privileged artists want to prevent anyone else from attaining their power and it's not fair. You didn't address

Is it strange to you that cars and pedestrians are both subject to different rules? They both utilise friction and gravity to travel along the ground. I'm curious if you see a difference between them, and if you could describe what it

I was arguing with an artist the other day about this. I said that Midjourney copies the work of artists the same way that all human artists "copy" each other (checkmate, in my opinion). They pointed out that Midjourney wasn'

How do we know these books are AI generated? Because the startup "Reality Defender" said so? This feels like they're deliberately singling out trash books and calling them AI-generated to fit their bias. It doesn't seem

We've become so coddled as a society that we now worry more about safety than progress. What would you prefer: a car that spends all its energy making sure everyone nearby is "safe", or a car that can drive on top of the wate

I don't think it's the same this time. A mechanical knitting machine can be invented in isolation. Midjourney could not have existed without an extensive database of stolen art. Isn't that something worth fighting against, fo

If anything, the AI image-generation movement proves just how highly society values the work of the artist, since we now have tech companies dumping hundreds of millions of dollars into training models to approximate their work.
