I once worked at the Microsoft Technology Center in Mountain View for a week and they had beer. They told me I could have one whenever, so I had a few Killian's and I was useless after about 2 or 3. Interesting how others seem to benefit fr

I have to say, as a former sk8er (too old now), this is typical. Skateboarders have been social Switzerland for decades. Often un-critical of ones appearance and always deep into their sport, I'm not surprised by Steve's attitude.

I thing Pilgrim's Progress is number 2 in the States. At least I think that's still true.

By the way, I didn't say Socialism wasn't defined. I clearly said the assumptions that he laid out were not defined. The larger ideas, like the goal of life. I don't think those concepts are addressed often, they are assumed. Meaning is mor

I couldn't agree more about the defining of terms. While I find the article well reasoned given his assumptions, I think it's the assumptions that need to be addressed. Terms like, "social-ethical end", "inner equilibrium", and idea of a go

I love your optimism. Getting on with the dream is a good feeling and it's great to get fired up. I work for a major airline and I'm curious about your product. At the same time, you have a long road ahead. A startup is a major commitment a

I have never really kept a journal, but when OhLife came along I thought it was a great idea, for about 3 days (the idea is still good). OhLife is great, my wanning self discipline however, is not so great.

I think PHP is not a bad choice. It's not as cool as Ruby but it gets things done (not that Ruby doesn't). If I were in your shoes, I'd go with Ruby, just because my intuition says so.

Normally, I'm a software producer and I've worked with a few technologies that are great, but this year (as of late) I'm becoming a software consumer. I've finally gotten to experience the Kindle 3 (Christmas gift) and the Google CR-48 is p

This is a great response to the other post ( http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1983141 ). I think the work of web designers is vastly undervalued and to say a quality design is worth only $15.00 is pretty absurd. 50K, okay, it's a bit of
