Ideally, I'm paid to my level of competence, which means I work all day. I'd have to be a moron to produce many times more then others for the same reward.

It seems like you are trying to figure out if you can get an employee to do more work then others for the same amount of money. The basic idea is that you pay people for the work they do. If they get it done quicker then others, that is n

He mentions mind-share as a factor. It is compelling that I can go in #git on freenode and have any questions I have answered promptly and completely.

I will be omnipotent? Huh, that's a stretch. I can barely understand the relatively simple programs I write. If there is a human being who understands his own code completely, in a large system, I'd like to meet him.

Those are harsh words for a creative work. I'm sure Salinger didn't ask to be regarded as he is. Most people create nothing in their lives.

I wasn't saying that Copenhagen was an example of how the US is great and China is bad. But it seems that right now the US is more aligned (selfishly) with cutting pollution then China is. It is directly against China's immediate interest

The article makes note that rare earth metals have a huge application in green energy, and that 95% of the world's rare metals are in China. It's ironic that, of all countries, China would have a monopoly on natural resources that can help

The real question is, why is living in California so much more desirable then living in Texas? If Texas was as desirable, would they have some of the same problems? Ultimately a state(in the US) is made up of citizens, not land or governm

If there are any restrictions on redistribution, then it is not copyleft. A company could sell GPL licensed code but there would be nothing to stop the buyers from distributing it any way they wanted, including freely.
