My understanding is that evaporating solvent away doesn't form peroxides. Rather, as an ether ages, it can peroxidize. Removing the solvent concentrates the peroxides is all. Sure, it's a little tricky, but they're reporting

You should give HTML journal reading another chance. The journals that let you see citations without losing your place in the article are great.

I can confirm that C-u has the behavior I described for me. Running Mojave. It's very useful at times in terminal as a sort of "reflected" C-k shortcut. The way it behaves for me matches the description here: https:/&#x

One strange behavior is that in Finder (in list view for instance), page up and page down (or Fn-Down, Fn-Up) move the view up and down, but the selected item remains unchanged so that hitting the arrow keys returns the view back to the sel

I've read elsewhere that East Asians are more prone to diabetes than are other ethnicities. A quick google search for "east asian diabetes" yields links for higher risk, with diabetes occurring at lower BMI values. Also, the

Neither pure white sugar nor vegetable oil occur naturally in the environment. Can't just blame sugar when fat has twice the energy density of sugar and is used abundantly in the processed foods that we like to overeat.

The funny thing is that eating rice isn't even that old of a tradition, and neither is eating it in polished, white form. White rice only became ubiquitous when milling technology improved, and spoilage of the oils in brown rice became

No, it's both. The NYC subway system has the option of automated train operation only on a few lines. This person is a conductor though. They sit in a cab in the middle of the train and operate the doors.

The crops we cultivate to feed ourselves and our animal slaves are grown outside. It’s a obvious statement, but it feels easy to forget when we spend most hours of the day indoors. Key stages in plant development are sensitive to temperatur

Why should a phone be required to lie flat on its back? And if raised a little by a bump, how does that impair usage? What’s the defect? The bump, if anything, is a feature, because it prevents the whole back of the phone from being placed

Not only are there cases, which resolve the issue, but most people use phones while held in their hand, so the bump doesn’t lie against anything. The problem with the bump is purely aesthetic.

One difference is the timing. Lockdown in Spain and Italy happened too late. Also is it still spreading or are the new cases the result of the incubation period for the disease?

How can it still be spreading like that if people are staying indoors away from each other? I read that grocery stores even limit the number of people shopping at one time. Is it spreading though essential-type workers?

The parent comment mentioned existing therapies. As in drugs like Humira, PD-1 inhibitors, PCSK9 inhibitors. No doubt they are complex to produce. But I was doubting that the costs of production are the reason why these drugs are expensive.
