I meant the case when you have to use an other machine and naturally emacs users want to use emacs even there, so that's given. But on Windows, for example, python may not be installed, so that's an extra install, while if you hav

It's easy not to have email if you have a secretary who filters and prints out the incoming messages for you. I guess he never orders anything on the net, doesn't use any online services, because those usually require an email add

Hackers won't target Emacs, they aim for bigger targets, software used by many people. Emacs is so obscure that nobody bothers to work on emacs exploits, so your worry is not really justified.

It's suprising somebody gives 70k answers, but asks no questions. I wonder why that is. Does he know everything about his area and not interested in other areas?

A knowledgebase is for storing thousands of notes and quickly retrieve them when needed. Searching dozens of notebooks for the relevant info is not scalable.

The main advantage of the cloud for me that it provides PaaS services. You don't have to administer a VM, etc, you just use the services and it's someone else's job to install security updates and stuff.

For me the most important part of note taking is quickly retrieving previous notes. Paper notes don't work for this if one has lots of notes, so digital it is.
