Well I think "high quality" is doing a lot there. Obviously autonomous vehicles would be safer if they work perfectly -- the concern is that they will not.

Great summary. This will be an interesting experiment that I think will ultimately fail.

Correct me if I'm wrong but actual "high noon" and 12pm don't currently line up except for a couple days a year, do they?

Fuckups? I often say that this is the one good thing Bush the Younger got done lol. The less standard time the better as far as I'm concerned (I live in NY where 4pm sunsets in the winter are a huge bummer).

Waiting for renewable energy to be "quite there yet" is never going to happen. These transitions will take place, but they will take place precisely because shortages like these force them to happen.

I may be missing something, but increased enforcement sounds like a great way to solve the corruption problem? Eg. Public servants make ends meet by fudging timesheets => Enforcement clamps down on practice => Employees bargain for hi

It is extremely unlikely that someone will be killed by a 5 mph collision, and it is certainly less likely than a 30 mph collision.

The issue is that the term accident implies a lack of intension, while in most crash reporting we actually have no idea if the collision was intentional, negligent, or whatever. Using a term like crash or collision is actually much closer t

You're right that the intent is not to make the reporting more neutral, but you are missing the point -- the reporting is not neutral to begin with. Take an example from the tool: - The SUV crashed into the woman. vs - The driver crash

As a New Yorker, that's interesting. Just curious -- do you find people in NY are also more willing to discuss what they pay in rent?

I'm not really sure that equitable is the right term to use here. $50k a year may very well be in line with what everyone else at a hypothetical midwestern company is making. I think it's always important to keep in mind that curr

Some shows even did this explicitly -- Space Ghost, Coast to Coast!, for example, was a remix of a 60s era show into an absurdist late-night talk show, using the same animation assets and everything. And it spawned a whole genre of similar

Big cities may have more public charging stations, but I'd say they are possibly the least suited to EV ownership because if you live in an apartment and park on the street, you can't charge your car at home.

How would one go about protecting their own personal backups from something like this? Would a hard-drive be fine if it is just not plugged in at the time? Or would it need to be stored in some sort of faraday cage?

Even if you have a part-time job, you should be paid enough that if you were to be working that job full-time you would be able to support yourself. If you're not being paid enough to live on 40 hours a week, you're underpaid.
