The premise of this article is based on a single study in 1969 on mice. I agree with the general premise that the immune system ages and becomes less effective as we get older, but will need more convincing that removing the spleen will ma

One group were gaming the upvote system to ruin r/all. I remember it at the time, it was awful for the majority of people there. The ban made things much better.

Yes, I think if you are using switch() for an analysis in R, you're either using the wrong language, or you're doing R wrong.

I think a lot of the problem with comparing R to other languages is that a lot people don't get the problem space that R is working in. Science deals a lot with categorical variables, missing data and high dimensional data, and the &#

While I'm here, what is wrong with menus? The ribbon interface needs me to learn what 100 symbols refer to, or else hover repeatedly to find what I'm after. I can read. Been doing it for a while.

Goodness the start bar on Windows. For something that is meant to be a key part of both the mouse and the keyboard workflow, how can it be so slow? My work computers can hang for so long on it, that it is quicker to find the application s

I suppose the price you pay of having a consistent desktop experience is that changes to the desktop look affect the look of your app, and you don't have much control over this. From a user perspective, I prefer this the hodge podge on

Thanks for providing that. Interesting to see the '.' used like a pipe. Always thought of it used in an OOP context, but interesting that it can be functional too. I also had difficulty fitting a LOESS curve to the plot, but I

Thank you for that, good to see there's an elegant Julia solution! The last time I was using 'pipes' with Julia, I think I was using DataFramesMeta. I also really like this interactive gadfly plot - reminds me of Matlab, bu

Using pipes and tidyverse/data.table allows for great things in R, and has a strong functional feel. It can be quite beautiful reshaping data, splitting, map, recombining and plotting it. It doesn't go well at all with a procedur

Wow, I feel like that goes beyond a dark pattern and strays into unconsensual abuse (excuse the truism). I feel like a dark pattern persuades and tricks you into doing something, but won't outright do something without your consent.

Such a mess. We pay for fuel and think of tank capacity in litres, but use mpg for efficiency. Getting an electric has made me just think we should shift fully metric and be done with it. Distances in km, speed in km/hr, consumption
