Thanks for the suggestion. The motivation behind writing a blog post every day is to force myself to put something down without worrying so much about what I'm writing. I have this perception that every post had to be an essay and a masterp

It's a lot easier to slink away and hide in a corner than to own up that you have failed. I did the former twice, so I have a lot of respect for Danielle. I'm curious to see what you guys come out with next, but I have no doubts that you wi

Agreed. Something seems off about this post. Having worked at Google and also having founded multiple startups, I understand the allure of startups. However, I have to say that in my experience, no one leaves a job that they are perfectly h

All I can say is that Jody was a great guy. My cofounder and I hung out with him one night about a year ago when he was in San Francisco, and he was one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met. Almost sold us on moving our start

We've talked about this a fair bit at 42Floors. The consensus is that the more senior people need to make an example of themselves by liberally taking vacation. If they set the example, then everyone else will take vacation. At a previous s

You can get a black edition DeathAdder, which doesn't have the blue light. I got this mouse even though I don't game, because it appears to be one of the only high quality corded mice on the market (Microsoft's mice have severely dropped in

There is no question in my mind that Apple will gradually switch from Intel to ARM. I don't think it will happen until 2014, when the first 64-bit ARM designs come out. At the current rate of improvement, ARM processors in two years will of

I bought a Nexus 7 and then sold it a month later after pretty much never using it. The only device that it could feasibly replace is my Kindle, and I preferred my Kindle for reading.

The problem with AMD making ARM chips is that they would be cannibalizing their own market. Their best move would probably be to license the ARM platform and use their chip designers to make custom chips (like Apple and Qualcomm have), but

I have a Samsung Convoy II. It's not super-thin, but it does pretty well as just a phone (plus texts). It actually has a decent web browser for when you need to check email (about once a month something comes up). Ruggedized, waterproof,

The book "Mastery" by George Leonard is a distilled version of "The Inner Game of Tennis." Highly recommended, and it can be had for a few bucks shipped on Amazon.

I actually like eBay, and use it pretty frequently. It's a great place to buy cheap stuff made in Asia, such as cheap bike parts and cheap electronics. I guess the problem with that is the profits on cheap items are much lower than on highe

I bought a Nexus 7, thinking that it would replace my Kindle (with the benefit of also being a tablet). I found that, even thought the Nexus 7 is higher resolution, it's harder on my eyes for some reason. So I sold the Nexus 7 and went back

I believe that Michael Saylor announce this about 13 year ago (in 1999). If I remember correctly, he had a column in Newsweek or Time talking about it. Then Microstrategy's stock tanked (they had to restate their earnings), and his fortune

You get the new games if you paid more than the average when you originally purchased. I paid $7, which was a bit more the average when I originally bought the bundle (day 1), and the new games show up in my account.
