It's OK, gaming is also having its AI moment. I fully expect future rendering techniques to lean heavily on AI for the final scene. NeRF, diffusion models, et cetera are the thin end of the wedge.

The weird thing is that I never needed computer assisted navigation until it existed. In my local area I simply remembered where streets were, and when traveling I used a map book. I also cherished photos and put more effort into taking the

I'm curious about ISLisp. There's some Japanese devs who have been posting about it on /r/lisp lately, regarding Easy-ISlisp, and it looks like a reasonable middle ground between Scheme and Common Lisp. The problem, of c

I loved Scheme, for years. Contributed to Geiser and others. IMHO, R7RS is wonderful but DOA unless it ships an opinionated and standardized FFI. Scheme has no lack of efforts to provide package management and repositories, but they suffer

A major difference between Amazon and Shopify is that the latter is a Canadian company. The hiring and work culture is quite different here.

Prior to "Buy, Try, Return" the sub-dollar games were pure joy. I didn't care that some were shit; most were more than enjoyable enough to satisfy spending a few quarters on them for a brief period. What I didn't like is

Wow, I have been wanting a fix for this for years. Magit is unusable for me on windows, which is where most of my dev work is. Disappointing that your PR was closed without comment.

Often the design of the gameplay requires trusting the client. Ie, foliage that partially obscures an enemy. There's no way to have this as a feature that doesn't require trusting the client to render the foliage properly.

That's elegant. It's also not so different than a preprocessor gate, or a function attribute.

If you're already concerned with, and developing, platform-specific code then the extra knowledge isn't really that hard to grasp. Moreover, I can grep for preprocessor defines, attributes, and such by name. There's no way to

Uncommenting a line for a platform-specific feature isn't really any more difficult than decorating a function, adding a pre-processor gate, or any of the other normal ways of doing it.

Nope; in fact, the MIT license isn't really of consequence here except in that it doesn't address a possible fiduciary/beneficiary relationship with users.

It's not about damages caused; the suit is over a claim that open source developers have a fiduciary/beneficiary relationship with users, and so have an obligation to act in their users' best interests. In which case, BitCoin

The market force putting a stop to this is legal liability that can arise from undocumented or unauthorized behaviour. That's more an issue of an overly-litigious society.

For money transfers, here in Canada we have e-Transfers from every major bank. For a small fee, businesses can verify their identity and it makes sending them money as simple as transferring money between your Checking and Savings accounts.

You're not wrong. It's amazing how poor access can be. I live in a tiny town on Vancouver Island and I have gigabit symmetric, for a very reasonable price. When I lived in Vancouver that simply wasn't an option.
