I agree with Elon here, many California policies are over the top and it seems more laws, taxes, and other restrictions are constantly popping up. The bay area has always been a hotspot for radical activism. I lived in CA for awhile and cou

I think the GPU price you’re quoting is about 10k too high. $8500 for the V100/32gb

Many people break rules everyday. Questioning and not following “rules” can be very healthy.

Locals avoid Casinos unless they work there. I lived there only for a year but avoiding tourists was primary #1.

I absolutely love async communication. I’ll look for writing competency when interviewing at my next job. I’m bogged down in meetings enough as is. Phrases like “hey let’s talk voice” is abused heavily. I’ve been to meetings where the topic

My first burnout was pure depletion of energy. I was young, passionate, and believed in doing the best work I could. I was addicted to work and pushed myself to deliver. I did, and built a career. I left after almost a decade at that compan

Sounds exactly like me. My burnout has gotten worse now that tech is mainstream. My current gig is more like a regular business that just happens to develop software. Most of the staff are social first technology second. I don’t fit in at a

It’s much worse than FUD: reality. Mapping known associates is significantly more invasive than location privacy.

Contact tracing is a wet dream for five-eyes. I don't even think it will even be effective given the anticipated number of cases.

Isn’t this just another example of how businesses start? Hauling a trailer vs trucking in, storing, and managing stock. Seems like a smart move to keep overhead low.

Masks have become a political issue, unfortunately. If everyone using masks doesn’t deprive healthcare workers of PPE I’m all for it. I don’t think it’s fair to criticize people who said masks aren’t effective, though. It happens everywhere

I wholly support projects like these but I wonder if wanting to do the right thing is enough. Large hardware companies have lots of resources to invest in reviewing and testing their products, even though they don’t prioritize the ideals of

You just start. Pick a layer and analyze. Run it through a debugger, analyze the network, etc. Time in front of the screen is all you need. All code translates to an execution layer. It helps if you have a few years of dev under your belt.

Craigslist stands as a solid example. It’s been the same forever, and I’m glad. It’s simple, I already know how to use it, etc. Kudos to them for not falling into the productivity trap of constantly changing UIs.

If you weren’t old enough to live through 9/11 and witness the transformation of the country you are probably being naive about contact tracing today. At first everyone was on board and patriot act was justified: we were under attack.

I’m in the camp of people who won’t pay for content - it’s just not worth it to me. Journalism began to die with the repeal of the fairness doctrine.

That makes absolutely no sense. I broke my leg and I was disabled for 6 months. Having a car during that period was essential. Having a car is a nice luxury. Public transportation is a pain.
