Respectively everyone has different risk profiles. Ranges from paranoia to defiance. Given my age and health I wear mask indoors which is required in my locale. I do not one outdoors where distancing is possible. Always a compromise

I now work for a 100 person org. I came from a place with high standards and 1000+ people. I’m not happy. Broken window theory applies. We need to make money but it’s my responsibility to ensure we do it safely. Incredibly difficult with ad

I run a 30TB MySql server on EC2. We raid 0 multiple EBS volumes for space and iops. It is completely unmanageable - I inherited it. We’re moving data out, but slowly. This DB houses PII for tens of millions of users.

YouTube was amazing back in the day but with censorship it has become a mediocre content dumpster fire. I haven’t been interested in anything on trending in a long time.

This is especially concerning since the entire value proposition of RedHat is stability and meticulously maintained packages

Sounds more like writing open kernel drivers, except you get paid. Still aspiring to work on something challenging is healthy and I respect GP’s sentiment!

Why would someone buy noise cancelling headphones if they don’t need that feature? The QC II’s bluetooth range is horrible. Less than half of the QC I’s.

There absolutely are weekend helicopter pilots. I have my PPL and at my airfield there are quite a few hobbyists and interesting jobs that don’t demand many oncall or flight hours.

What a joke. Paper isn’t a suitable container for long term storage of liquid. Paper straws are also a joke. I carry a big bundle of plastic straws in my car now.

Seems like a nice PR piece. Porsche is using 3d printing to drive tooling development to cut new shapes on pistons. Awesome for r&d but 3d printing metallurgy has a long way to go before it’s production ready. > and feature an integr

Making friends over beers after work is the only value of an office to me. Hallway convos for work purposes aren’t really all that great. However, they’re great for personal enrichment.

I’m thrilled to see this article here. Politically correct culture has gone way too far. Privacy and free speech are quickly eroding and it seemed like not many people are willing to get loud about it.

We did delay but we have to double down: let things run it’s course. Reversing now and keeping things closed will have far worse devastation in the long run

The media stopped being about journalism long ago. It’s now infotainment. Our media is destroying the USA.

Price hike aside I cannot support a company that abuses creators. It used to be such a great source of knowledge and content but now it’s been gutted and has become just as mind numbing as daytime TV.

I can’t support this idea. These thoughts and people exist. Silencing them or pretending they don’t exist is not something I subscribe to. I would rather see it, be educated that it exists, and choose to think the way I want to. Thought pol
