How the fees seem to work: Design fee: $949 - One off your Eagle files: $150 - One off Per board fee - priced per component including installation It seems like you are paying someone to manually design the board and link any components to

ORMs should not be sold as "Now you don't need to learn SQL". Like any abstraction, it pays to know about the layer below even if you're being saved from directly using it. In the case of SQL and ORMs, this is particular

the drawing software is actually pretty simple and draws "plots", with each stroke being a single plot and the pen lifting after. What that means is you cannot scan a signature and reproduce it, because the machine won't know

I worked somewhere where documents were printed, then signed by one of these https://axidraw.com/ using the client's signature (with their permission) to be posted to a pension provider who required wet signatures.

It may well be common knowledge now. I discovered it when writing our Dockerfiles earlier this year and before that hadn't seen it. It looks like multi-stage builds were added to the best practices in 2018 [ https://github.co

Something really useful I recently discovered is multi-stage Dockerfiles. Using FROM and then COPY --from to copy from a previous stage to prevent unwanted intermediate build steps that might expose secrets or just bloat your images. Tw

Are remote development environments common? There’s a CI server doing the heavy lifting but I still run tests constantly on a docker box while developing locally.

My tests already take twice as long to run when I’m on a Google hangout. For my case, I’d honestly rather use more bandwidth and do minimal local processing. If my machine is slowed down any more then I might have to stop working completely

That's sort of the point I'm making. Reducing consumption comes before reusing and recycling. "If you participate in Apple's trade-in programs, consumption isn't an issue." If that's how you feel, then App

Step 1 of reducing your environmental impact is reducing your consumption. If Apple really cared about the environment, then they wouldn't encourage a new phone every year when a phone can last for 4 years. Reduce, reuse and recycle.
