Essential part of my home studio audio stack (Serato / Ableton / OBS / BlackHole / Aggregate/Multi-output devices in Audio MIDI setup). Agree with others in this post that it's WAY too hard to get a stable stac

Thought of chess immediately after seeing the title. I really do recommend everyone play. There are innumerable insights like this that arise (though this may be true of any sufficiently complex game).

Someone once said Javascript is a "Scheme-like language with C-like syntax". Always loved that and ashamed I can't remember the original author of the quote. Not Crockford... Maybe Michael Fogus?

At some point I translated this demo into es6 if anyone's interested [0]. The focus was really on writing the cleanest idiomatic es6 I could (at the time :)). Check out the tests to see how far I got [1] Pretty fun exercise =) [0]: ht

They compared a web found in native woodlands to a web in a zoo enclosure to demonstrate the potential to detect local animal populations. The zoo had more species because it's a zoo. They didn't limit the study to only zoo-bound

I suppose. I do remember stories from undergrad engineering about the development of the first moon landing and the associated technologies. That and maybe the Manhattan Project. In both these projects, budget was essentially unlimited, and

I can imagine a geothermal-based extraction process to mine + a wind/solar transportation method. This works fine even if it takes 100x longer to transport. Can be fully robotic piloting for instance. Bottom line I'm not sure it M

Yes. I think this is exactly right and feel like I'm waiting for people to get over the shock. It's really interesting (but yes, initially scary) to think about what really makes us human. In a sense we _get_ to think about all th

To be fair, now that almost all professionally-written passes through a rewriting compiler, Javascript actually has evolved to a ecosystem that _can_ handle rapid (non-breaking) changes to a language spec. I'd also argue that the major

I'd guess 10 minutes up to an hour on modern hardware, say a new mac studio. That would be in lightroom - I'm guessing they're using optimized software for this though. Taking the actual pictures takes at least couple minutes
