Hi, I'm getting a db connection error when trying to view the article so I'm not sure what it's all about yet. I'm aware of your work with racket (read your paper from a few years ago about deploying the web server in a uni environment). Is

I'd love it if you told your story with respects to sealand. I was fascinated with it when I first heard about it many years ago, especially to learn that the UK govt seemed to have allowed it to exist without shutting them down. For others

I'm starting to think that these unfortunate incidents may actually provide airbnb with the future of it's business model. Right now they are just hooking people up and handling payments. They could go from that to learning how to put in pl

I figured PG needs to hear both sides of this story Oh, wow. I don't think you could be more wrong. From her point of view, PG is a going to come accross as a concerned airbnb investor . She is already upset about brian chesky complainin

It's amazing to see that guy still going. I remember seeing a PDF of his first book which was, if I remember correctly, largely a bunch of pasted unix man pages for various security tools and bits and pieces of guidebooks from the linux doc

Hi, thanks for your reply. It's good to know you're trying to provide a comprehensive service. I'm still pretty sceptical however because I think you will encounter a lot of cases that are difficult to diagnose just by looking at a persons

Thanks for your reply. I've seen many of the problems you mention in the UK too (except for 3 which is totally evil). I'm surprised the US doesn't have a charity offering a similar service to what we do in the UK; over here debt advice is a

I'd be curious to know if this service is limited to helping people set up payment plans? I'd be pretty concerned if this is the case - I used to work in this field for a charity providing debt advice in the UK and pretty much rule number #

I spent ~4 years working for a UK charity that provided a free debt advice service and I assure you that it's perfectly possible to get free high quality debt advice from somebody who is not going to derive a financial gain from the advice

That's right, we are both using the same technique. It's interesting to note though that the difference between this and a data structure is not that great. I haven't looked into it but I'm certain I've read somewhere that data structures a

You don't even need the data structure since you can simulate that with functions too in order to make a basic object system. Consider a simple example like this: (define (init-counter) (local ((define counter 0) (

It's interesting you mention that. The US (& most other places) may have something to learn from Israel here. It is my understanding that they make people waiting in airport lines to remain in small groups and arrange them in such a way

It looks good. I've seen a few startups trying to use restaurant kitchens like this for home delivery meals and I had wondered whether the economics would really work out for them since they would be requiring restaurants to make small deli

In the long-term, as machines become able to do more jobs better than humans, people will simply not be willing to pay any price for an error-prone human to do a worse job than a cheap machine Actually I think they would. Being an employe

I haven't had a chance to look at this properly yet but maybe somebody can clarify a few things. This lets me do scheme->js in the browser using moby, which is implemented in racket. So my code gets converted to js on the server hosting

Those who enjoy reading John Taylor Gatto may also like to read a great little book called "The teenage liberation handbook" by grace Llewellyn. It's that book you read as an adult and wish you'd read as a teenager.
