I use a registrar called Njalla[1] for many of my domain names and they are soon also launching a VPN option. They are privacy focused so they provide whois privacy, crypto payment and login via xmpp/e-mail only. In their faq they stat

I highly recommend using invidio.us (or another invidious instance) instead. Also, as an ad free and non tracking twitter alternative there is nitter.net (other nitter instances exist as well).

I don't really understand your point, F-Droid is definitely an app store. I think you must mainly mean the Google Play Store, where the situation seems really bad... As for Apple, they manually review every application. I remember iOS

There is a setting to automatically switch to the Picture-in-Picture player when one switches to other apps or presses the back button. So i've never had those issues, because videos simply never stopped playing!

I know that logging in isn't possible yet but invidious links can actually be opened with NewPipe I think. Also other great substitutes for Twitter and Instagram are Nitter[0] and Bibliogram[1]. [0] https://nitter.net [1] ht

I don't think that NewPipe even allows logging in... I think it is an alternative to that because it allows one to subscribe to channels without an account. What he probably meant is that people who are logged into the Google Services

I absolutely love NewPipe but I do think that it progresses very slowly and that might be why it is often ignored for the other popular pip youtube client, youtube vanced. Maybe it is just the rate at which binaries get released... For exam

I have an android phone with a custom UBPorts build maintained by an XDA forums member. It runs many android apps very well within anbox. I have tested many apps from F-Droid with success. Even the android buttons (recents, go back) work wh

I've tried both podman and lxd with success but I'm curious, what do you use a tool like that for, mostly? Not to seem like a hypeman for Kubernetes and similar tools, but I actually seem to only ever use containers combined with

Well ~/snap is pretty terrible but I am almost as annoyed with something like ~/.tmux.conf and no support for the XDG Base Dirs Spec or setting the config path. With tmux it seems like this is finally possible with version 3.1 or

Lately i've been using flatpak to install many applications and then `flatpak-override` to remove any unwanted permissions from those apps. Usually i try to completely sandbox them by only giving them access to a specific folder on dis

That blog looks really slick and the syntax highlighting is great on the eyes. If you don't mind me asking, what did you create it with? Some sort of framework or from scratch? I've been looking for something like this for a bit.

I used the Xposed Module "XPrivacyLua". On Android 10 it only runs in EdXposed which itself is a Magisk Module; Magisk Root is needed. I should mention though, AFAIK only the pro version of XPrivacyLua can spoof these values and l

What I can recommend is invidious as an alternative frontend to the official youtube website. It is free software and can be self -hosted but there are also many public instances readily available (e.g. invidio.us). There are even instances

Couldn't they have just used IMAP to move all of the emails to another (preferrably your own) email server? Not sure what exactly Google allows but that's how I would have approached it.

I did install it but just to see what all of the fuss lately was about. I didn't "reverse engineer" it but instead used XPrivacyLua permissions manager to log the permission requests and NetGuard firewall application to log a
