I love how detailed the video is, awesome! I recently wanted to cross compile something rather obscure for my armv7 based e-book reader. When I first researched the device I found out that the manufacturer of its chip no longer exists. I ul

That might be likely if the password manager database is stored in the cloud. iCloud hacks seem to be at least somewhat common and iOS users often hsve no other means of syncing their password manager database.

That sounds interesting. A cool project would be to inspect gyroscope data when the iOS keyboard is in use. Maybe it would be possible to create a keylogger based on it. I guess it would depend on how good the data is and which keyboard is

For some simpler projects, I can only recommend doing some digital signal processing. For example, an audio signal is just a list of values, so you can do things like: - Count the number of zero crossings - Find out where they are - Create

Lately I've had great experiences with running any windows programs on linux in wine. It seems to have really matured a lot. There are some issues with my tiling wm but other than that zero problems.

It works by essentially installing a whole "remote VSCode server" in the container and connecting to that. So all of the extensions and everything is installed in the container. Then when you open it up, it just mounts your source

Well, imo VSCode does require some significant configuration, it's not as usable out of the box. But the cool thing is that you can override the configuration per workspace and that the config files are just JSON that can be checked in

Isn't there an org plugin for VSCode? I also use VSCode but I use markdown with many tweaks for my notes but I also have Latex and Org support enabled for when I need it.

My assumption is that all of this doesn't matter when the share holders and investors pressure the company... it's not an easy to decision whether to delay the product again, especially when there is already a negative public reac

I understand and while we all understand that it isn't technically "unlimited", they still are just using the service they pay for in the way it was advertised to them. If it isn't unlimited and you don't want to de

Having that simulator is absolute awesome! The fact that this product was merely mentioned in a comment and the you showed up here is the true magic of HN. It always amazes me again when it happens.

Right but to me that seems like a good thing. In fact, don't you think it is a little bit risky to have all your games in the steam library, protected by DRM? What if steam stops being around? Having different stores also forces these

I think what we need is another free day, preferrably on wednesday. I think that might improve everyones performance. Too bad that that can never happen on a large scale due to historical/religious reasons.

All of that applies to me... Again, that definitely gives me the time to do so on weekends but during a work week it would just be unhealthy. I can't even fathom staring at a screen even longer and I already get teary eyed every day. B

Okay, but how healthy is it really? Maybe I am projecting my issues onto other people but I often get less sleep when I invest a lot of time into my side projects as well as my job.

Well, I guess then they have the luxury to do that. I work in a critical position at a major bank and I already have to give 100% at my job. I have side projects as well though which is how my whole weekend gets used up. I guess that is not

I tested this out when its "datasette-ripgrep" plugin was posted and it is really cool for browsing a database. I wish it had a plugin for browsing through "roam-like" markdown notes or storing them in an sqlite database

That seems very understandable. I think the WebKit requirement will change in the near future though mostly for legal reasons.

Oh you get to control your IOT smart lamps with a command line tool and not a proprietary iOS app with a login gate? Fancy.

I love these stories also but I am genuinely curious how you were able to work 8 hours a day on it and also work your regular job. I assume you don't work a full time job, otherwise it seems unhealthy. I put a lot of time into my side

That analogy doesn't work in my opinion, because to even be allowed to drive, an extensive amount of training is required. I think we need to start very early. There should be more mandatory comouter science and information security cl

I didn't mean to make an accusation, I just wanted to say that you "could" given your resources. So I guess the question is why should I trust you over a competitor? Thanks for providing more links/material.

I think that this kind of work has to be accessible and usable by everyone (who might have such a device). So while it might seem simple to someone on HN, that may not be the case for other people who potentially want to do this.
