Same here. Generally when looking for good quality Android apps, F-Droid should come first. I think about 95% of the apps I use on my phone are covered with F-Droid. Only banking apps and public transit apps are from the Play Store.

As an outsider, I've always understood it like this. The conservatives and right leaning people value individual rights and freedom. For example, they are against something like mandatory healthcare, because they might be perfectly hea

I would highly recommend Searx instead. You don't have to host your own instance either, there are many available at https://searx.space . It's essentially a "proxy" search engine for many different ones. It h

That's awesome. I am currently an ignorant teenager and I started messing around with C around this time last year. If I had to describe this current age I'd say it's driven by endless curiosity; I can't wait to start st

I always see claims like this but never with actual evidence or research done. On Android, I can spoof the microphone access permission so that Whatsapp thinks it has access. I can then log whenever this permission is being used while givin

That is not true at all. Browser extensions are written in JavaScript, so the source code can be inspected before installation or at runtime (Debuggers are present in major browsers). It might be the same as running a script or binary witho

I see.. but that's something else. These are strategies to not get distracted, actually a big part of ADHD is having these strategies, otherwise there would be no productivity whatsoever. However, the OP is talking about distractions w

> "steers them clear of ADHD too" Could you elaborate on that a bit more? I have ADHD and am very interested in anything about it but have never heard anything like that.

I don't think that there is a lack of material, almost every new language has an extensive documentation. I did have to learn how to read something that takes more than a couple days/weekends though, but now I mostly have no probl

I'd assume that this is even more of a problem with focus enhancing drugs such as amphetamines, because they also will keep you awake and alert.

I use Syncthing/Nextcloud to sync the notes to my phone where I use another markdown editor. It works pretty well.

I do love it but I really hope that it will be open sourced. There are some features that I want that are very unlikely to get implemented.

This is absolutely amazing. I don't know a lot about Lisp but have spent my holidays to get look at ELF binaries and start learning about AArch64 assembly. Just great to have such a well commented ressource to study!

I'm pretty sure that for the classic "Hello World" example that's not the case, because we can simply use the linux write system call. For example, an assembly program that just calls write and then exits is much smaller
