The weird thing is in Melbourne, you can get top quality food for less or around equal to buying groceries. It's an actual "economy of scale", same with Tokyo. It's hard to comprehend for folks in places like the USA,

Not only that, the folks working there are usually happy! It's nuts how often I go somewhere in the USA and everyone is just miserable.

The weird thing is going to other cities around the world after visiting NY / SF and such, is that even NY / SF feel overpriced and subpar. It's odd just how much better food is in Tokyo / Melbourne / other great c

Probably better to go the route of pensions.

My plan is to just leave the US for somewhere with a real social safety net at some point. I don't believe the US can turn things around at this point, there's just too much "tech debt" so to speak.

I'd say it's more akin to pensions.

I'm a bit confused about what you're trying to say. Parental love is a big factor in folks lives / happiness.

My experience is it tends to depend on the folks who made the application. Regardless of what framework you chose, they can't save you from yourself in a lot of cases.

Yeah, I have no desire to go back, regardless of "performance" gains. React keeps me sane and it's fairly simple to keep it performant.

Right, I visit cities outside the US and almost no one I have met has a car or wants one.

I can't find any states that prohibit smoking with children at home.

I want it banned because my stepmom (and father cause why not) chain smoked indoors my whole childhood. It's weird that we allow that.

Do you struggle more on days where you don't sleep enough? I find that on 9hrs of sleep, I'm able to manage my focus, but any less and it's a waste of a day.

Interesting, I just met a group starting a co-op around heirloom varieties of plants etc. and promoting them / selling food products made from them.

Do you have data on how many take advantage of it? My anecdotes are that everyone who tries this gets trapped in some bureaucratic hell hole that tends to prevent it from actually being used.

I don't get the reasoning, you could do the same with Tailwind, just make a mega class with all your "css". Nobody says you can't, although personally I don't do this. <div className={`${variableWithMultipleTail

Yeah, I jumped ship from Marionette / Backbone when hooks came around, they finally got me to go "wow, that's way way better".

I would say the app I work on falls into the need for SPA, so I naturally love React. Hooks are where I actually jumped to React, from Marionette / Backbone and it's been love for me ever since. I don't do CSS in JS stuff,

For me it automates the low level stuff so I can focus on other things. "Given this json blob what is the typescript type?" "Given this type, make a function that loops over X and makes a map of Y?" Or I use it to write

You say that everyone knows, but also say "You have to suffer until you build your network and credits enough to pull yourself up." That's the delusion right there, young naive folks thinking their suffering will pay off. Bec

I agree with you, it comes down to communication. If folks can't communicate ideas clearly (written), then your team will suffer regardless of location.
