It's the opposite. The absolute occurence of stroke was higher in people who got the vaccine, but other risk factors were also higher; adjusting for those, they found a "less-higher than expected" amount of stroke, which they

I still occasionally accidentally do this to myself when I come back to my phone looking at a screenshot in full-screen... It's almost a sensation of vertigo when you realize what's going on and your brain readjusts.

Publishing research is pretty normal for traditional companies. The pledge to make patents available is a small step towards open. But I think the obvious and natural thing for a company in the business of training machine learning models t

It's really obnoxious for non-open companies to include "open" in the name. Stolen valour, basically.

Well, sure, you could equally find it to be anti-comforting. I just think (1) there is a truth to reality, beyond even what we might be able to physically access and (2) it's interesting to ponder what that might be. Maybe even comfort

Well, do you think there is a truth, understandable by humans, about the nature of the universe? If you think there is, what better guide than our best theories of physics so far? So of course what the nature of the universe is doesn&#x

This feels like a cop out. Like sure, you can just do the math and get results and not worry about it. But what's the motivation here? When you get down to it, he seems to believe many-worlds is true, BUT holds the philosophical positi

Yes, it's a good point! A similar data point is men of the Bodi tribe, normally quite skinny, have a contest to see who can get the fattest during a 6 month period: the technique the men use to get fat is to eat a lot of blood and milk
