You only remember about 20% of what you read at best. So the optimal approach would be to pick the 20% you want to read. Skimming over dull parts and reading the start and end of paragraphs helps. I've also tried EyeQ and AceReader and felt

You can also use Crossover to use many windows apps on Mac without a VM. Performance is very good in my experience.
