Wow, lowendbox is a fantastic resource! I've been looking for a cheap UK VPN endpoint for years, and lowendbox has plenty of options. Thanks for the link.

I'm a MobileOrg user, and I completely agree. I would pay good money for an app that presents an iOS user interface for editing files with org-mode markup, including creating org-mode files on the fly. Unfortunately, MobileOrg offers neithe

I make fairly heavy use of scsh. At least half of the sysadmin scripts and utilities I've written over the past 5 years are scsh programs. However, it does have its problems: http://www.lysium.de/blog/index.php?/archives/215-Why-I-dont...

Only for searching. This feeling is mitigated a bit by the recent improvements in nnir IMAP search in the development version of Gnus, but it's still not as nice as Gmail search. On the other hand, I use Gmail to archive some mailing lists

I, too, have a Maildir Spotlight importer on my list of projects. I have made no more or no less progress on it than you have, apparently :) It's really too bad that Apple didn't choose Maildir for Mail.app's message storage; my understandi

Have you tried the development version of gnus (from git) in the last 2 or 3 months? Lars has returned and is making lots of improvements, especially in IMAP performance and search. I have about 200 mail folders, and the dev version of gnus

I just found out a few weeks ago that my ISP, Sonic.net, offers an IPsec VPN endpoint to all of its customers, with no additional fees. I highly recommend them if you're in the SF Bay Area. Note that while their help page suggests that you

I like standard Emacs better than Aquamacs, too. I can see the appeal of Aquamacs to people who were Mac users first, and Emacs users later, but I'm the other way round. For my tastes, Aquamacs is trying a bit too hard to be Mac-like, and i

I'm no C++ fan (anymore), either, but I don't understand Carmack's taking exception with exceptions. If the alternative is guarding every function call with an if statement to check for error codes, I'll take exceptions almost every time. (

One problem with C++ templates is that they're infectious. You're right that the Boost source code is quite unreadable compared to vanilla C++, but even using Boost types and algorithms in your own code often makes it impenetrable, too.

I'm on the same arc (especially the template Kool-Aid phase), except perhaps further along: now I forgo C++ entirely and write plain C because it's so much easier to wrap from higher-level languages. I do miss smart pointers, but on the oth

For the sake of brevity, I didn't go into detail about how CookieSafe works, but try it out and you'll see why it's an entirely different experience than creating a static whitelist in a browser dialog box.

As far as I can determine, Incognito mode just creates a 2nd sandbox for cookies and history that's shared across all Incognito tabs/windows, and is only deleted once you close them all. Cookies you create in one Incognito tab or window are
