Not necessarily. I'm interested in a simplified work flow. For example, I don't want to point to another smtp. I don't want to create campaigns in mail chimp just to achieve this result. I just want to use my client of choice (gmail) and ge

It seems related. They don't articulate very well what they actually do. Any idea? Seems more like it's marketing focused though I may be able to use it just to get the benefit I'm looking for.

Agreed. I've used px trackers before but I'm not a fan of the work flow. I was thinking of a script in a bookmarklet or something that I click and if I'm in my gmail, it will contact my server for an image id and inject it at the bottom of

Working out itself isn't fun for me. The trick is to make that time meaningful in another way. I listen to interesting radio shows/podcasts while I'm at the gym. I enjoy it immensely and this is the only time I allow myself to do it. That m

I like the TI resale program. I know it would have been very easy to get my TI89 off me after college for a steal. The difficulty comes from the fact that anyone who doesn't need that calculator anymore is almost certainly no longer around

This isn't necessarily the case. Life insurance insures against certainty. I think one things which would make this idea feasible is the fact that people are old by the time they receive SS so a certain percentage (a somewhat predictable on

If you have a potential client, pre-sell him on it to get funds to supply the other things you're "lacking". Treat it like a free-lance development gig at first and then turn toward a saas model after you've developed it.

I think life-style businesses have enough in common with the general HN discussion that the community belongs here. Most issues faced by one will be faced by the other. One counter example would probably be funding in most cases. patio11 fr

If someone had a contact, I don't think could give it to you based on what you've said. If you want to be secretive, you'll have a hard time getting what you want (an intro). The idea may be great, but if I had a contact, I would be able to

I think these are great ideas. If followed, it's likely that we would all start seeing something closer to the HN we want to be a part of. I must say however that I don't expect this post to cause the change. Not because it's a bad post or

I'm not sure how submissions like this are still showing up so commonly or how they arrive at the top of the list. If ever there was a community of people capable of solving the problem of "improving HN", this is the one. I supply a problem

I know you're looking for advice on your app idea but I just want to throw this in. I'm concerned that you're memorizing math. In my experience flash cards only reduce your ability to learn (and apply) math. You need to understand the reaso

WePay has a marketplace model that I've used. It allowed me to collect money and send money. Each user must have a WePay account but you can create one for them using the api. Pretty seamless overall.

Not completely sure. Reddit for example has a few really good ones. Alien Blue for iOS and Reddit Is Fun for Android are the ones that come to mind. Might be that the HN community is too small with a comparatively low opportunity for real g

Thrust implies that you're pushing off of something. For a propeller say on a helicopter, you're pushing off a column of air that "sits" on the ground. In space, thrust typically means you're pushing against gas you're providing in the form

Not an answer to your question but the profit estimator allows the user to replace the text in the final output at the bottom. I wouldn't make that an input since it's for display only. Header tag would probably be best. I click and highlig

You really need to delete this thread. Not paying a debt you agreed to pay is stupid. Announcing your plan to not pay it on HN is much worse. You know this is the internet, right? Don't pay it. What do I care? You'll find out that it was a
