I don't think groupthink had anything to do with SVB at all. People used SVB because (1) It was a normal, trustworthy bank with many years of regular operations, (2) It was one of the few banks that would work with early stage startups

This is funny. I'm curious how exactly you count an "elon". E.g. Google news shows no Elons, but that is for sure 100% wrong. Also maybe you shouldn't be counting news aggregators like Google News? Its basically double c

From what I read the NTSB has not started its investigation because their are waiting for the train cars to finish being cleaned up. After that they will begin and we'll get some preliminary findings and eventually final report

The problem the author is referencing is that without any specific prompting (which will be 99.9999% of prompts) ChatGPT has an inherent left-leaning bias, and this is not disclosed to the average ChatGPT user. If you ask ChatGPT a question

Honestly, I look at these numbers and I think 'is it really worth it to complain about these private jets?' Looking at the top slot on the list, Thomas Siebel, he uses ~300x an average American. There are maybe 100 names on this l

I still don't understand how getting rid of the last human case will resolve the issue. Presumably these crustaceans & worms still exist in the wild? Isn't there always a chance for a new flareup to occur?

Does anyone know what the AWS environment mentioned here is? It doesn't really make sense for it to be Amazon AWS, or am I just overthinking it?

In the Apple VS Epic suit some of the numbers for this were actually released. Its surprising how low some of the numbers where. I think for some weeks Epic was only paying $50k/week for this (which, for the scale of Epic, is peanuts).

A mix of modern safety, and also a major advantage of EVs in general (not just Tesla) - since there is no engine, the front of the car is basically just an empty crumble zone. That greatly increases survivability compare to traditional ICE

I used to think that, but then reality struck. For the financial companies, the process varied greatly by company. Some were OK, others were terrible, some flat out didn't work. The bottom line is that this isn't a super common bu

This is a cool page. One thing that is important for me that is lacking here is emergency access (e.g. https://www.lastpass.com/features/emergency-access ). It would be great to see side-by-side comparisons of that.

Docker has a bunch of pros and cons, but to me the most important thing is that it standardizes a 'good enough' way to deploy servers. That means I can have one dev write some docker files used to deploy a server, then later switc
