I don't think the question is useless, but rather very difficult to answer. We simply don't know enough yet to answer it, but might someday. As for alien life, I expect if there's anything out there, it's probably intell

After decades of biological research, we're still not sure what makes an organism alive, in the sense that the line between living organisms and inert biological material is not well-defined, but we know how living organisms reproduce

At an abstract level, it's likely caused by low/stagnant supply, and increased demand which is inelastic (not affected much by changes in price). Imagine a real estate market with only 100 1BR apartments to rent. If 85 are occupie

I've always found it difficult to communicate IPv6 addresses over the telephone, or type them in manually, when compared to IPv4. IPv6 does have abbreviation built in, but "2001:db8::ff00:42:8329" ("2001:0db8:0000:0000:0

I don't think there is -recursiveDescription in NSView or NSObject. I've seen -description and -debugDescription. Correct me if I'm wrong as it sounds useful. :)

Part of Zynga's core problem is that their games are frequently more psycological tweakery than legitimately rewarding or fun. Gamasutra has an interesting article up about that very subject: http://www.gamasutra.com/

It's common to walk around naked in locker rooms at gyms and what-not. I make it a point to remove my sunglasses before entering just so others can see my eyes, otherwise you'll come off as creepy. I've never seen anyone try

Does anyone recommend a good GUI for viewing Linux log files on Windows or Mac? I'd pay for an OSX-Console-like app that'll connect to a remote Linux distro and allow easy browsing/searching of /var/log/, or any paths you add to it.
