Well, lots of time zones being an infinite number of time zones in that thought experiment. You see, not every event has to specify the exact offset because in practice: 1. If you’ve got coworkers who are a minute late attending a meeting,

This article presents one approach to doing away with customary time zones. However, there are other approaches that aren’t so jarring in these ways, though maybe in other ways, just as our current arbitrary convention is also jarring. All

I don’t know why it matters to me, but I’ve always been put off by it being ugly and using non-native widgets. That may be the only reason I’ve paid for TablePlus. I’d probably be fine with a great TUI interface, too. So it’s really this in

I read the article and the slides. No where was it mentioned that this was to circumvent censorship. A sibling comment to this one is about Florida (though, the author appears to be in London). But, the only places I’ve experienced Wikipedi

Have you had this for a long time, or are you speculating that it’s the type of software you like? This looks very cool to me, though. If you have used it, can you share how you’ve used the generated diagrams? I can imagine a screenshot of

Helm isn’t YAML. It’s a go template file that should compile to YAML, masquerading as YAML with that extension. So yaml formatters break it, humans struggle to generate code with proper indents, and it’s an insane mess. It’s horrendous.

Oh yeah, probably not causation. Definitely correlation. My point was that mask retention was greater in blue areas as compared to red areas. It may have been absurd how quickly masks were given up in red areas (don’t know; wasn’t there), b

Yeah, this is exactly what I meant. Wearing a mask (I guess, or not?) is a political affiliation. It’s stupid. I don’t claim either party, for what it’s worth (“no party claims me”; I’m happily unaffiliated).

In America, wearing a mask is a political statement. For a while it was: “we don’t like Donald Trump”. But now, it’s basically, “we want to protest something, we don’t want to show our faces, if the situation gets out of control we’ll be un

How does this relate to entrepreneurship? I’ve considered that wielding this problem to your advantage is a predicate of success. But I’ve never seen it spelled out in that context.

Is there a term for this systematic approach? I do it too, in software, and hone in on the right behavior using unit tests - especially to account for idiosyncratic off by one errors. Basically: get the structure right and then re-align the

I’d like to see a map of the known universe visualizing atomic density on a log scale. I’d never seen “a hundred atoms per cubic meter”, but it’s always been my intuition that, without some quite interesting shielding, you couldn’t make it

Wow. This is a very cool idea. I occasionally get discouraged that I don’t know what trees are around me - because it reflects a disconnect from nature. This may be a great trick!

I’m reminded of the Stephen King novel / Anthony Hopkins movie Hearts in Atlantis where missing pet posters going up were a sign that the government men were hot on his heels. Great movie, by the way.

Agree completely. We shouldn’t invest much effort in finding violators or enforcing statutes that prevent no real harm. So rather than introducing the equivalent of chewing gum bans like Singapore did, let’s move on.
