Same reason I left Chemistry. Gotta grind for 80 hours a week for a decade for a chance at a good position. And hope you don’t get stuck under a PI that steals all the credit.

The hype for serverless cooled after that article about Prime Video dropping lambda. No one wants a product that a company won’t dogfood. I realize Amazon probably uses lambda elsewhere, but it was still a bad look.

I remember reading an analysis that if people only died by accident then the average life span would between 900 and 2000 years. That assumes no more conservative living than today. Surely things like cars and guns would be much less preval

You can find ALDIs in the USA, but they are regional. Trader Joe’s is owned by the same family as ALDIs, and until recently (past 10 years) you wouldn’t see them in the same areas.

Yeah, it seems like you have thought it out more. I just see younger people romanticizing farm life in the same way van life was romanticized pre pandemic. Farming is a very difficult job, one that has to be done every day. I spent a few su

I had some extended family do homesteading starting in the late 80s. At the time it was called hobby farming, which I think is a much more apt name. My only comment about it, only do it if you are already financially secure. Farms like this
