No matter the industry, it sucks to have someone managing by dashboard. In classic post modernism, the signifier replaces the signified. If anything, it’s a great signal to the employee that it’s time to start looking elsewhere.

I would agree. AI is the machine god realized. Not by virtue of its capabilities, but by the agency people hand off to it. Whether it be creative tasks or just planning their activities, I see more people rely on AI for more decisions. They

This sentiment seems a lot like the “you have it great, there are starving kids in X who have it much worse” meme I often heard growing up. It encourages minimizing one’s problems, which can lead to all sorts of mental health issues. Thinki

Almost any light hydrocarbon (4 carbons or smaller) vaporizes in the Earths atmosphere. Oxygen is pretty corrosive and we have all sorts of biological systems to slow or prevent this.

Yeah but aren’t these cars big with people who do after market mods? Ferraris have to be serviced by licensed mechanics.

I am not claiming industrialization is universally good. Just that it is not universally bad. And progress isn't a straight line. You can reject parts without rejecting the whole.

I commented on this when you initially posted it, but you really need a Y axis for this graph. Also if its a ratio, which way is it? A double bar or double line chart would probably be easier to interpret.

I'm not saying don't study nonindustrial groups of people. I agree there is real value in that. But the noble savage is definitely a romanticization of these cultures by industrialized societies.

I wonder how many of those positions were filled by people taking multiple jobs. While I don't think its common, I have heard enough stories. And 80k is roughly 2% of the total 3.1 million on that graph. I wouldn't be surprised if

Yeah, it’s pretty common. You can recognize supporters by: - A call to return to a primarily agrarian culture. - A claim that prehistoric humans were somehow in more harmony with nature and their community. - Focus on small, tribe like comm

Question, are you looking for remote work or are you located in a tier 1 or 2 city? I am not having too many issues with interviews but I am in San Francisco. One of the first filter questions I get from recruiters is location.

The fruiting body of a mushroom often represents only a fraction of total biomass. It depends on the species, but what we see above ground is more analogous to a flower than an entire plant.

But if you just compost the fungi, you are just back to where you started. With phytoextraction you have to incinerate the plant material afterwards. I know fungi aren’t plants, but similar principle.
