In some places its lower, some places higher, I presume, but I've never heard as high as 23%, I think people here wouldn't stand for that, I presume there are much better social services in Ireland, which would be the benefit of higher taxa

I agree, its simply not possible to do this effectively in many situations, you can't just plug in a bunch of people for 2 days a week and expect to get the same output as the equivalent number of hours worked from a team of full-timers. I

we are taxed at consumption as well, I'm assuming you mean you want even higher sales tax than we currently have but no income tax? I have felt that the current sales tax of up to 10% in some places is already fairly high as is

Work on some open source projects, start your own, etc. They can be small, it doesn't really matter, but these are great for explaining gaps. I actually got a job where I spent a lot of time talking about an open source project I was workin

I don't think I've ever done this, I've only been coding a few years so I think modern monitors have been good enough.. One thing I have noticed is I find a lot of devs leave their font at the default size, for a while now I've been making

Do you have any coworkers that you got along with at your previous jobs? If so, go on LinkedIn, look them up, ask them to connect, leave a positive review for them, ask them to do the same for you. If this process is completed successfully,

Seriously.. I used to live in Phoenix, recently, and commuted probably 60 miles a day (roundtrip) and spent about that per week. Granted, SF to Palo Alto may be a bit further and gas is more expensive here but no way is it that much more to

I kind of agree, but, lets see, my current rental in the Bay Area is about $60 per day if you calculate it based on the monthly rent. I just checked and a room at a motel 6 can be had for $55.99 a night this weekend in Sunnyvale, CA (Palo A

During some of my crazier and younger moments I've been on some trips where I would sleep in the car one night and stay in a motel others, it seems saving money is the issue, so maybe he'd be better off "cycling" and sleeping the car a few

He seems to want to relocate to "silicon valley" (the Bay Area) and make it work long-term, from what I can tell, so while its a bit radical, it could work out for him, its hard to know when to make the jump. I think the case of a founder,

Yeah, I have noticed this too, this is one reason why I think its important to get out in nature from time to time, whether its going hiking, camping or snowboarding, etc. Basically, our modern lives are usually fairly mundane. We commute,

I agree, the companies that highly value degrees may not be the kind you want to work for, you can make it without a degree but long term it's best to pick one up along the way even if it's just from doing part time classes while working
