Third party crates can include malicious safe code that doesn't exploit any soundness bugs, so I'm not sure how exploiting soundness bugs could make the situation worse. It's only a problem if you try to restrict I/O API

Not sure about the exact official stance, but can't imagine it's anything other than eventually fixing all soundness bugs, at least as long as someone is willing to do the work. However, an important thing to note is that Rust str

No, you can of course allocate W+X pages from the OS and put multiple closures in them using a standard userspace memory allocator. Or if the OS doesn't support W+X allocation at all, then you can have a bunch of tightly packed pregene

Is IPv4 shortage really going to be a problem? For client use, carrier-grade NATs allows to have 1000 IPs per customer, giving 6 million addresses. For server use, TLS SNI allows to have one IP per datacenter, which are estimated to be arou

That's only if one assumes long-term monogamous relationships, but there's no reason to only consider those. In fact, if a dating app worked very well, non-monogamous and short term relationships would probably be more satisfying.

How about getting the browser and OS makers together to use an alternate DNS system? It only needs Google, Mozilla, Apple and Microsoft to agree and ICANN can be made irrelevant overnight.

Well, generally you can, approximately, given C/C++ code, produce Rust code that should give equivalent LLVM bitcode to the one produced by clang on the C/C++ code, so it should not be possible for Rust to routinely lose benchmark

While Go and Elixir might indeed be slower, Rust is designed to generate optimal code and offer zero-cost abstractions like C and C++ and I would expect it to do so in this case.
